Yes.
I went from 8 20-rd preban Colts during the ban to adding 10 pre-ban 30rd Colts right after. (Neutered state). Just with the timing of hte magwars, I got another 10 pre-ban's for cheapcheapcheap. ($7ea) At 28 mags, I'm probably overset. I'll survive from here. |

The brands that are acceptable to me aren't that cheap. I have enough mags to last me a long time.
No where near a hundred.  |

Off course, that one hundred count is figuring both well used range mags and new "stashed" mags and it is a mix of both 20 and 30 round mags. Plus, spread out among several guns its not that many per gun but I don't think I would have added more to the stash if it weren't for the recent good deals. When I think back to the prices I paid for AR as well as other hi-cap mags during the ban it makes me sick! I just don't want to be in that situation again. |

Yes, I bought 35+ new mags that I probably would not have because of the price wars. Do I have enough? Probably. Will I buy more? Yes. I also found some great dealers and manufacturers that I didn't really know of before.

No. I'm tapped out building the 7 stripped lowers I bought last year.
But, I did jump on a case of 30 rounders and 10 20 rounders as soon as I could after the ban lifted. If I had waited awhile, I could have got a lot more mags for the money. Live and learn. I'm still glad that I got them. |

I've been buying mags since December. The price wars haven't driven the price down on the Teflon-finished mags as much as with the GI regular finished ones, IMHO. I think that what really started the prices coming down was 44Mag coming on the site. Up until then, Bravo Company, et al, were charging about $12-13 per mag. Suddenly there was competition again.
 But yes, I am stocking up on mags as fast as I can afford. I've got enough for shooting for quite a few years. But I'm stocking up for the next ban. Ammo too, but mags more so. |

Every time I see an ad I buy more. I've bought 30 in the last two weeks. I think I'm sitting at around 200 AR mags at this point.

Good point. Back in the 80's I could buy NIW USGI mags for $3. Then came the ban and $25 mags. It wasn't long ago I was buying 7.62x39 ammo for $70/1000. I wish I had bought a pallet. |

Wiz my friend. Don't pass on opportunities while you are in college. When I was a broke college student, I passed on three deals that still bother me to this day. I had a chance to buy 3 Colt AR15s for $300 each. I had a chance to buy an Aug for $650 NIB. AND I had a chance to buy a Barret M82A1 for $2,250 from Mr. Barret himself. I could have gotten a second job to pay for that suff. If I had a "do over", I would. |

Yes, I have bought more but I was going to be getting more anyway. I went the entire ten-year period of the ban without buying one single AR mag. I had my original seven twenty rounders and four thirty rounders that I bought between '88 and '90. I still only have seven twenties, but now I have forty of the thirty rounders. As soon as I get a couple other things paid off, I'm going to buy a buttload more of them.
My wife thinks I'm crazy, but I explained to her that I'd never get caught without enough mags the next time, God forbid, another AWB comes along. Heck, even if you don't really "need" them there's no reason not to buy them at these prices. |

NO new AR mags for me w/ the current price wars. I picked up a few around Christmas time, brings me near 80-100 I guess. I was going to buy some more, but I am on a waiting list to get some P7M13 mags if one of the original buyers doesn't come through w/ the money. Also, waiting for some P7M8 mags, when the arrive in country. Just missed out on the original deal; $65 for the M13 mags.
 Hopefully someones check will get lost in the mail and I can get theirs.FB |

My wife also thinks I'm nuts as I hit the 30 mark. Bought my first AR in Jan and somehow managed to buy 30 30round mags since then! Great times...now if only the ammo prices would somehow go down.

Straight USGI 20 round magazines. All the ones I've got so far are the old ones with the alloy follower. I also got four "AR-Stoner" 20-rd curved magazines from Midway (before they went on sale, dang it), but after examining them carefully they seem to fall short in a number of minor ways, compared with the old GI mags. They look like they'll work well enough, but they just aren't. . . quite. . . as nice. I may post more on that subject after testing them thoroughly, so I'll actually know what I'm talking about. |

10 black teflons with Gen2 MagPul's from 44mag and 10 from Bravo. Before that I got 10 from Tapco for 11 each. Before that 10 LEO Centers from AmeriSurplus in Texas. |

No, but I sure did fall for the $1/mag for G3 mags that Tapco ran awhile back. Bought 100. At that price I can use them as targets.

Mag wars are illegal in New York. I do, however, have 9 pre-ban mags incoming from a fellow member. So after all is said and done, I will have: 2 - 10 round Bushmaster mags. 2 - 10 round Kel-Tec plastic mags. Handy little things for my SU-16. 23 - 20 round mags. Including 5 steel mags of dubious quality. One I sacrificed to see if they could be reworked to perform better, 6 are Colts still in their original shiney six pack. 26 - 30 round mags. I contuinue to accumulate as best I can. Pre-ban mags can still go for $25 in many stores. I feel fortunate that I can get some beaters for $15 at one shop when they have them. These I clean up and if the followers are the early black one, I replace them with Magpul followers. |

I just ordered 5 more mags, 20 rounders though. With the Gen II followers.
@ 10.50 each, hard to ignore. Haven't seen 20 rd mags this cheap. |

Well, since you asked. . .
1. The AR-Stoner mags are slightly longer than the USGI mags. Not enough to matter most of the time, but they won't fit as neatly in -- for example -- a bandolier pocket. 2. The alloy follower in the USGI magazine is fairly resistant to tilting. The AR-Stoner follower (green plastic) nosedives easily when I push on its front. 3. A stripper clip loader (spoon) fits the USGI mags better. They are a pretty tight fit on the AR-Stoner mags, though they do work. 4. The feed lips of the AR-Stoner mag are slightly closer together and also are partly closed in at the rear, which I think is why they don't load as easily. It takes more force and feels rougher when pushing in the rounds. 5. The AR-Stoner has a round hole in the base, and a slight gap at the front of the base, where dirt could potentially enter when firing from a prone position. All of these are minor points, barely more than nitpicks. But adding them together, and if there's not much difference in price, I'd rather have the USGI magazines. |

I maxed out on mags twelve years ago. Pretty much the same story for ammunition.
The "AWB" had zilch effect on me, because I took advantage of opportunities to "buy it cheap and stack it deep" beforehand. A lot of us did. Highly recommend that anyone who hasn't already done so, take advantage of this "calm before the storm". |

 And the good prices on the new GenII MagPul followers have me upgrading everything that isn't still NIW...

Ive bought two 10 packs from Bravo, and that brings me up to just 25 mags.
But considering i only got my AR last August, im not doing to bad. Although my buddy thinks im crazy for having "so many clips" But i guess i do compared to his 2 five rounders for his mini 14. |

In the investing world this is called "averaging down." When you buy at a high price, and the price drops, you buy more at the lower price to make your average price per share lower. Don't fret! You can always sell 'em. |

Poor guy. I got a friend currently moving out west from NY State because of the gun laws past and pending. Are you going to upgrade the preban mag bodies once you get them? Like MP Gen II followers, lpates, and chrome silicon springs? I suppose that would be the best course of action to get "new-old" mags in a state soon to likely ban individual thought.  As for the mag wars questions, yes. I have bought a whole bunch of mags lately due to the price drop and will continue to buy them as often as possible. At these prices it is hard to pass them up. At the same time I have upgraded all of my old mags that I got free that I found lying in the field or on ranges when I was "in". And now that those old ones are upgraded and reliable I plan to beat the crap out of them and save the new ones for the next ban. |
