I'm talking about the "A" version from Israel, the 5.56 loads, not the .223 Q3131.

How much is it going for per box? Case? or whatever.

A lot of people think the Q3131A is better than the Q3131, it fires better in my Bushy M4.

I stumbled across a case of it at the last gunshow, but they wanted 300 bucks plus tax for it.  I am not going to pay that.  (at least no yet).

I live in a small town and was able to get 23 boxes from 3 different stores in the area. All gone now at least locally. I would probably pay 300.00  as long as no other charges were added. Prices are just going higher and the quality of that ammo is really good.

Not sure if they have Sports Authority where you live (and if they sell ammo), but check one if available.  Have found 2002 and 2003 headstamped Q3131A at 3 different ones in Florida in the last few (3) months.  Twice at $4.99 a box, but one had a sale and it was $3.99, which is a pretty good price these days.  SA must have 'found' cases somewhere, as the cases themselves looked pretty beat up, but the individual boxes were in great shape.  Maybe it sat at some central warehouse for awhile and was either 'found' or just released (hence it being a few years old).  But from what I understand, it hasnt been made in a few years anyway.  Latest headstamp Ive seen of Q3131A is 2003, I believe.

Winchester is no longer able to import it from IMI, so the only stock available is what distributors/dealers have been sitting on.

I don't know which is better, but I do know that they are both 5.56, not 223. If you haven't tried the q3131, you should give it a try.

What's the difference between Q3131 and Q3131A?

What happened that they can no longer import it?

Q3131 was USA-made Winchester quasi-M193 equivalent.  produced from ~1992 (?) until about 1999, with the last few lots having sporadic problems, more specifically overpressure.  see the Maryland AR15 site for specific lot numbers with problems.

Q3131A was Israeli-made Winchester quasi-M193 equivalent.  produced from about 1999 to 2005.  IMI was the subcontractor.

Q3131 is again available (well, it appears in the Winchester ordering guide), and it is USA-made.  a number of folks have run the current Q3131 through the chrono and found that it is roughly the same, maybe a bit higher, velocity as the venerable Q3131A.  below,is pictured a 2005 vintage box of Q3131.  note theQ3131 and "made in USA" on the endcap, and also the internal cardboard separator.  Q3131A had no such seprator.  the brass on current Q3131 is mixed, it depends on what they (Winchester) have on hand.  so you will see various headstamps.  rounds shown below have the NATO cross.

IMI was unable to supply Winchester due to production issues.  I believe that their available resources are all directed to mil production.
