Just for plinking, I am thinking about converting one of my ARs to shoot .22LR. It looks like you can buy a modified bolt carrier assembly and magazine and use your .223 barrel, or you can buy a standalone .22LR upper and just use your lower.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these options? I am leaning toward buying a separate .22LR upper and just using my lower, or perhaps looking for a good price on a lower to use as a "test mule" for other uppers.

Thanks for the advice.
