I have a DPMS hammer that does not have the notch on top, which puts the hammer protrusion around 0.480" when it is cocked. The correct spec is around 0.448". Does this make a big difference? I only use the bolt carriers that shroud the FP.

Update: Well it appears to work fine. There's no noticeable drag or any problems. It runs smooth like a Glock

The notch on the DPMS hammer is what they remove to make it not a M16 hammer.

The DMPS hammer is the only AR15 hammer I now of that works good in both .223 and 9mm

I use DPMS lpk's to avoid the notch and the problems it can cause.
