Somewhere someone on here had a link to a place that was selling the front and rear set for like $250ish if I remember correctly.  As to where you can purchase them I do not know, but I am sure someone will come along and hook you up with a link.

the sights?

Vector Arms sells the diopter sights for $35 ea.

I haven't been able to determine whether that is a picatinny rail mount version but it is clearly the same 'style' sight.

worth looking into

as for the M416...........

It makes financial sense to go this route versus the SCAR, or the XM8

This- almost overnight- upgrades the small arms of our military and ultimately would save a lot of money and maybe a few lives (based on the lower likelihood of misfiring due to 'cleaning' issues)

I'd say go for it

and I'll take one in a 14.5" please

The BUIS will not work on a regualr AR because the HK upper is about 3/8th higher then a standard upper.  your HK BUIS will sit 3/8 too low for your atandard AR front sight. unless you get full rail and use their front sight.

Its almost like they want you to have to pay for the full HK ticket.........

Notice the raised rail on the upper receiver?? look at the slight ramp up from the rear of the receiver to hwere the rail actually start....

Yep, the raised rail is not good, it makes the upper totally proprietary.

Have they lowered the hieght of the sights to maintain the same bore distance or just raised the whole sight distance over the bore?

you could just get one of the unmarked RRA buttstocks pete sells and burnish or brand the logo into it.

hell, wait a month and go to www.airsoftatlanta.com and get one!

ETA: I'm not trying to start a war, just saying that anything trendy can be picked up and repro'd quickly by the airsoft companies.

Thats odd, because the Airsoft copies of the CRANE/SOPMOD stocks were selling like wildfire on the EE before the LMTs came out and the originals were $400+

My point was exactly that.  The Crane Clones sold pretty well and they are holding up very well.  Someone pointed out that the stock could be had easily- that there's nothing special-H&K about it- just the logo.

Take the chip off of your shoulder.

A new upper would be a great time to do the caliber change to 6.8mm. This is not a time to buy another 5.56mm system. Forty years was enough.

Y'all can have the HK stocks, it won't fit on a milspec/Colt tube.  Looks like it's made by the same folks that make them for Bushy and RRA

Yeah because we all know airsoft clones must be just as good since they look the same

Just because sheeple buy the shit on the EE or eBay doesn't mean it's any better than the imported chinese garbage like Leapers that it is. It might work fine sitting in your safe, or at the range for light duty, but if you ever have to take it to a serious tactical carbine course or NTC you might get to see how worthless airsoft copies really are on actual firearms. Of course people that believe in using airsoft garbage on firearms won't understand that you get what you pay for until the stuff breaks on them or fails to perform. For the life of me I can't understand why some find it necessary to constantly bring up the topic of pellet air guns on a firearms forum. Please take it to the toy gun forum where it belongs.

Anyway, back on track with the HK 416 uppers and sorry for the diversion.

Likely CMT, they will mold whatever logo you Want, like CMMG, RRA or the like. Quality stocks if they are, but likely H&K would charge a premium for the privilege. When I still had my H&K SL8-1, they charged me $50 for a damn sling and $39 for a plastic 10-round mag.

I like H&K products, but they rape you on accessories and I don't like that.

I doubt HK could supply the uppers alone for the price of a new M4.

I'd sure like to have one though.

David Pennington posted this on another forum:

What's the point of comments like this? I guess you haven't figured out yet that everyone on planet earth isn't the same? Now, don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying that a cheapo Leapers red dot is as good or better than an Eotech or Aimpoint, but all three are red dots.  They pretty much do the same thing.  So for a guy that maybe shoots his rifle a dozen times a year at about 100 or 200 rounds a time, maybe the cheap stuff is fine.  Maybe it would last five or six years at that rate.  All I'm saying is that not everyone here is military or LEO, and doesn't need to have every tactical accessory that someone in the military has.

OK, back to the point. The pushrod gas system fixes the last glaring problem of the AR-15 family except for the caliber. No more propellant gas and carbon dumped back to gum up the feed system.

Everything other than that just takes carb and choke cleaner, Q-tips, and some dental picks.

Do you still think the caliber is an issue with the Mk 262 Mod 1  77gr munition? Everything I have managed to find on it indicates it makes the 5.56mm much more lethal, and more effective out to longer ranges. Even a marginally heavier caliber such as 6.8mm means compromises such as a smaller basic load and smaller magazine capacity.

One feature that the HK416 has that I wish we could get here is the cold hammer forged barrel. From what I have read (and has been discussed here before) is that the hammer forging makes the barrel much stronger. I have never seen a hammer forged AR15/M16 barrel for sale in the US.

That is because troops often are cleaning it for an inspection and not for serviceability.  When I was a CO, one of the first thing I did was change how my Marine cleaned weapons and than how my 2111 armories received weapons back from the Marines, it was a tremendous waste of time, time that was better spent on PT and other training.  Instead of scrubbing the finish off a weapon that had not been fired in weeks or month, we did did presevation cleaning if they hadn't been fired and white q-tips were not issued.  Also I was making inroads into the "over lubing" of weapons prior to shooting, for some reason most SNCO's believe the weapon cannot function unless CLP was dripping from it, enough so that a sludge rapidly formed the first time the wind blew and kicked up any dust.

I have succeeded in doing this with blanks in an M16, but never with ball ammo.
