Take the upper and lower apart. Check the buffer tube and spring for anything stuck or anything that looks weird.

Also check the charging handle and bolt carrier to make sure it moves completely smooth from all the way closed to open.

The charging handle may be hanging up/draging on the top of the lower receiver?

Rifle length buffer in a carbine tube, perhaps? Take out the buffer and measure the length of it and also look at the pictures on

Yeah I said I'm sure it wouldn't leave the factory like that, but with all the back orders and how far behind they are...maybe it did. If it did leave the factory with the wrong buffer that's pretty lame.

I just got home and pulled out the buffer. It has the R6600 HBAR buffer. Which one should it have??? I presume the R6001 Carbine buffer. Please advise...hinking.gif The current one is 6" and the buffer spring is approx. 13".

You have the wrong buffer and spring. Those are for a rifle. A carbine buffer is 3.25" long, and the spring is 10.5-11" long. Bushmaster shipped that, directly to your dealer, brand new, and nobody messed with it? Thats uncanny they would ship a factory built rifle like that without even a function check. Gotta be more to this story. |

I wonder if the dealer installed the tele stock afterwards. Just so you know the hammer was cocked at some point, because when I first started messing with the bolt I performed a dry fire and the hammer dropped. Dunno, kinda weird. I'll be calling the dealer I bought it from today and see if he can shed some light. If it DID come from Bushmaster like that I'll give them a call. Either way, I hope the dealer has the correct buffer so I can run over and get it taken care of today. I sincerely appreciate everyone's expertise on this forum. I've only been a member for a shot time and I've learned a lot. Thanks, and I'll let you know how it turns out.

ANy dealer should have those parts.... or be able to swap them from a rifle he has. I am betting thats a dealer built rifle.... not from Bushmaster.

It came with the box it was shipped in, the new Bushmaster hard carry case, sling, mag, owners manual and warranty card. It's definitely a Busy upper and lower without a scratch on it. If it's not directly from Bushmaster he went through a lot of trouble making it look that way. I pulled out the shipping box and the serial on the box matches the lower. It came from RSR Group FL Inc, 4405 Metric Drive, Winter Park, FL 32792. Every heard of them??? I'll check around on the internet.

My Bushy was flawless, still havent installed my collaspable stock yet. I would say it was aftermarket change. Someone probally had a bunch of postbans they wanted to make banless.

Yup, and calling Bushmaster will settle this issue. They'll be able to tell you how it went out. A guy here where I live ordered a Bushy M4 from the asshole dealer in my town. He got a rifle that was an obvious fucked up build. Bushy lower, aftermarket telestock, and some kind of upper with a DPMS bbl and some chessy parts on it. And the cocksucker had the nerve to charge him $1500. No shit. Of course the guy(young and inexperienced) just got a Springfiled 1911 from him for $1440 so I guess he figured he could gouge him harder this time around. Ripping off people with guns does not seem like a profession with much of a future in it to me. Same guy tried to jerk me a couple of years ago. I stood right there in front of him, pulled out my cellphone and called ATF. Fucker. Took 2 hours, lots of ranting, threats and intimidation but I held my ground and prevailed. He got pissed at me because I wouldn't give him narcotics. At least that is my opinion on it. I have more damn problems with Narcs. Just about every bad patient interaction I have is about drugs. this guy wasn't a patient BTW, just wanted me to write him scripts. Yeah right, fuck off.

Problem resolved...It was the wrong buffer. Went back to the dealer, he replaced it and all is fine. He told me to keep the old buffer in case I ever needed it down the road. I'm glad that's all it was. I just missed getting Bushmaster customer service. They are closed for the evening. I'm still curious to see if it was shipped out that way. If it was I'll place the final post here.

Dangit! I forgot to have him swap out the spring and it's hard as hell to get the bolt to lock back. Oh, well...I'll get the shorter spring from him tomorrow. Hey he has two Colt 30rnd mags with the green followers, $50 for both, good price??? If so I'll pick them up tomorrow when I get the spring.

Is your dealer related to you? If not, tell that crook to fuck off. The spring and buffer thing is bullshit that he did and that price on the mags sucks dog weiner. There's no reason to pay more than $15 or so for good mags. I ordered a few the other day for less than that.

Thx for the info. I'll pass on the mags and check in the equipment exchange section. I currently have one 10rnd and two 20rnd, since I just got into AR's. That will do me for now I suppose, however I do want a couple of 30 rounders soon. I'll keep my eye open. Before I pass judgement on this dealer I'll wait to see what Bushmaster has to say tomorrow. Post findings here.

Cool. FYI - New AR mags are right around $10 - $12..... and used wont be much cheaper than that for a while.... until all us mag whores (who paid $15-$20 for ours) realize they aint worth crap and start letting em go for $5-$8 again.

Turns out it was shipped from the factory with a standard stock according to Bushmaster. Either the wholesaler or the dealer installed the tele-stock with the wrong buffer and spring. The dealer made things right and went out of his way to ensure I was satisfied. He provided me with the correct buffer/spring and an additional spring. He told me to keep the rifle buffer and spring for a later build. I appreciate the advise. Was an easy fix afterall.
