I finally got my build finished!! I used a M1S CAR16 kit with a Stag stripped lower. The color match is almost perfect. Only issue I had was the pivot pin detent spring was too long, nothing a pair of cutters couldn't fix. I found the tool to insert the pivot pin and detent was useless!! Tried it time and time again and couldn't get it, finally broke down and held the detent down with a razor blade and got it together the first time!!

And of course....pics!!!

This first one is with the stock collapsed:

This second one is with the stock extended:

This last one is a close up so you can see the color match:

Thank you! I'm rather proud of it myself. I've been wanting an AR for a long time, and thought what the heck, may as well build it myself. A lot of pride in being able to tell people that I put it together myself, not to mention the understanding of how it functions by actually putting the parts in.

Looks great besides the out of place deer head on the side

Might as well put a duck on it.

Or a maybe a towel, lol.

ROFL!   A towel.. nice.

It would sure be nice if someone would just make a very plain receiver with the minimum legal markings.

You have really fat toes.

That looks really nice and clean.  I plan on building 12 just like that.

A cropped picture with less carpet (and toes) would certainly have looked better.

How to take pics on ARF thread

I had this problem but solved it by cleaning out the gunk left in the hole by the finishing process.  Then the long spring fitted perfectly.  Nice Gun.

Don't that make it a deer huntin' gun?

It's a Stag lower.

Stag (n.) The adult male of the red deer (Cervus elaphus), a large European species closely related to the American elk, or wapiti.

BTW scso33, nice job!

The dear head irks me a little too for some reason. Doesn't mean it's not a great lower. I like the Ameetec logo on my lower and that's one of the reasons I got, well that and they're cheap...and local so no transfer fee.

Thanks Coyote3.

As far as the deer head, I kinda like it, at least better than some of the other logos out there. (to each his own)

How would you describe the quality and strength of the collapsible stock?

I haven't shot it yet, but it seems to be okay to me. I don't have any experience with ARs so I have nothing to compare it to.

I covered the S/N. What's the issue with it being visible? Just curious.

I can still take your last pic and enlarge it, and read your SN.  No one needs to be able to read it.  It's no one else's buisness.

You shouldn't be able to. I opened the pic in MSPaint, erased out the S/N and filled it back with black. The only thing I think it could be is you have been to this thread previously and your computer has the image stored on your HD, the old image with the S/N intact.
