Hey everyone, quick question regarding at pistol flash hiders. I'm looking to get s new one for my 10.5 inch pistol. What are yall running on yours?  Looking at the noveske and a Troy claymore, but I'm open to ANYTHING. Looking for something that is has a bigger circumference that the stock flash hider.

Looking in the photo thread, seems many run either the Flaming pig by Noveske; KX3 and KX5.
Others going for the same look but on a budget are going with KAK's Flash Cans or Slimline flash can.
On my build I'm going to use the Smith Enterprise Vortex flash hider, which seems to be one of the very best flash hiders on the market.
I'm not too worried about muzzle blast on this range toy.

I think you have more options with a 10.5". I like the krink style brakes like the Noveske or if your on a budget you can get the GRG krink off of amazon for 35 bucks. The advantage they have over the KAK is they provide more back pressure for the shorter barrels, helps your gun cycle better. I also like them because they are pretty much a linear comp. as well, directing the noise and blast forward. The KAK will do this just fine, so if you don't need extra pressure than the KAK will be just fine. I run a spikes stt2 buffer, phase 5 spring, and a GRG krink on my 7.5 pistol and it eats everything I put in it, even Tula with no malfunctions whatsoever. Anyway, I'm kind of fond of the Noveske pig, I got one for my next upper I'm working on, that one is going to be an 8.5" 5.56 mm

Not big and fat (adding bulk and weight at the worst location) but one of the most effective flash hiders out there. ..and at an awesome price too. The 10.5" needs an efficient FH. This is one of them.

I'm planning on running a Smith Vortex on my 11.5" and either a Noveske KX-3 or KX-5 or a MAS Defense device on my 7.5".

I like the Kies Blast Master linear comp on my 7.5" pistol. it is reasonably priced and does a good job.

I had a linear comp, switched to the vortex. Huge fireball, and it was pretty loud. With the vortex, extremely low flash signature, and waaay quiet. Although the switch caused the back pressure issue which was easily solved by opening up the gas port. 11.5" pistol.

Have it on my 10.5" pistol
Great comp/flash reducer

I run a Troy Claymore on my 7.5" 5.56, an AAC Blackout on my 8.2" 300 blkout, and a standard A2 on my 6.5" 6.8 SPC.  Love them all, minimal muzzle flash and jump on any of them.  Going to put a YHM Phantom on my next 10.5" 5.56 build.

Has anyone put a flash hider like the Vortex under a flash can type device the the new Griffin shroud?  I'm wondering if they would work together to both reduce flash and also send concussion disentangle.

My 7" pistol was a flamethrower with a standard birdcage. Popped on a Smith Vortex and from what I can see (even wen taking a video of it), flash is zip with it installed.

Unless you want something different, the stock A2 is cheap and effective for the price.

My first AR pistol shipped to me today.  Its got a 10.5" barrel w/ an A2 birdcage.  Did a little research, and knowing what to expect with a 10.5" barrel, I went ahead and ordered a Troy Claymore.

I'll provide first hand feedback in a week or so...

LOL. Don't think those little spikes would do anything extra with regards to a breach, but I do like the way they look ;). Kind of like a mini bayonette..

I have a Noveske KX3 on a 7.5 inch AR Pistol.  It does a great job redirecting the Noise and Concussion forward and away from the shooting.

However...

It is called the FLAMING PIG for a reason.  It does nothing to tame the flash & in fact has been called a Flash Enhancer.

I'm wondering the same thing except a blackout instead of a vortex. Unfortunately the Griffin blast shield is fairly new and I haven't been able to find any reviews regarding
it's use with a flash hider.

Phantoms are the best bang for the buck for hiding flash.  I think they're about as good as the smith vortex but they don't have the annoying ping sound.  As for the Noveske Kx3/5, those don't hide flash, they just chuck everything forward..so if you use one on your AR pistol in defense at home at night, you're hosed.

Here's a phantom on my 10.5"  ($28 for one)

I've got STD.
Simple threaded devices, that is.
Relatively cheap and works as both FH and concussion reducer, ideal for pistols.

Another vote for the STD.  It's even smaller than the A2 hider.  Works well.

I've been tying to decide bwtn the STD, Blackriver Comp and Kineti-Tech Muzzle Brake muzzle devices...decisions, decisions.
