What is a good quality carbine buffer with the best "perks" over a standard CAR buffer? I never really looked into this as I've never had an AR15 with FTF, "gassing problems", "excessive recoil impulse", bolt bounce or any other problem that some associated with the AR platform.

I've almost got my 18" rifle gassed SPR finished(still waiting on the PWS buffer tube and SOPMOD). But I was looking at Spikes website and their ST-2T buffers, and they claim to do some pretty good thing. As far a increasing reliability, smoothing out operation and lowering the cycle rate and what little recoil there is on an AR. Any one ever use one of these? Are they worth the money or is there a better one?

You should generally have a carbine, H, and a H2/Spikes and find the right one for your rifle.

Tom @ Spike's has said that there probably isn't much benefit to the T2 in an 18" w/ rifle gas.  See the post on 10/22/2009 @ 12:46:03 PM CST.

That said, if you already have a standard carbine buffer, buy an H3 then mix and match the internal weights to see what you like.

I didn't notice an improvement with just the t2 in my 16"car.  The combo of wolf spring, auto bcg, t2 buffer is what made the diff.  I couldn't be happier.  I think the spring is what made the biggest impact.  Hope this helps

I plan on getting a wolf spring as well. I'm wanting to build a stock to end all stocks so I'm going with a LMT Sopmod on a PWS buffer tube with the wolf spring. And I guess from the info everyone gave me, I'll do some testing with the buffers. Thanks for the help guys!

Agreed, the combination is the secret, though I used a Tubbs Silicone flat spring. Very Smooth.

Me neither.
But I can bet the more parts that are thrown at a weapon,  the more problems will develop
