I would like a 6x42, but I can't find one for under $400. The only ones I can find are from Leupold? Just wondered if anyone knew where I can find some? I plan to use one on my AR and another on a FAL?

Stick with Leupold but look for a used one on Ebay. Don't consider the Springfield.

I'd get the Nikon Monarch 6x42 for $249 at swfa.  Very good glass, reputed to be brighter than the Leupold Vari-XIII with equal clarity.
