Blues Brothers...Carrie Fisher with an old school M16, numerous Ill National Guard troops & CPD SWAT.

The Hunter....Tracy Walter (spaced out mechanic in Repo Man) with an AR15 & a comically large (nightvision???) scope.

That was classic "everyman" character-actor M. Emmett Walsh shooting at him - look at a list of his appearances sometime & you'll probably be amazed at the movies (and TV shows, for that matter) you love in which he has appeared...

Did anyone notice that in "Heat" that everyone, with the exception of Kilmer at the drive-in, was using the irons. What up with that?

I remember being really frustrated at that movie, having all of those 16's and only
20 rounds of ball ammo.
Pretty neat how the Guardsmen got their weapons to fire semi-auto using only blanks.
Saw that trick in Die Hard II also.
Just makes me wonder why the US Govt. wastes all that money on BFD's.

About Heat-
The other thing that drives me nuts about that is during the heist getaway, Val Kilmer always seems to be aiming 2 to 3 inches above horizonal while everyone else is not. Maybe its just me, but I always notice it. Nice cast of guns, though: AR, HK91, Galil, FNC, etc.

I heard that there is a precision/varmint/long rang AR used in the movie "Liberty Stands Still".

Can anyone confirm? I might rent it just for that! :D

Kilmer was also using iron sights at the drive in.  HK-91 A2 with a light bipod.  No scope.  I thought that was kind of strange...

The shot during that scene of the POA through the irons of the M249 was very cool and very well done.  Probably the only time I will see through the irons of one...
