Looking for advice on a pair of gloves for a 12 hour carbine course in early March here in Texas? I know my hands will be shredded by the end of the day without them.

My current favorite gloves are the combat gloves from Oakley... They offer great dexterity without removing the first inch or two of the finger...
I've also had luck with Blackhawk Hellstorm and regular nomex flight gloves but I cut off the tip of the trigger, middle, and thumb.... the Blackhawk gloves offer stiching so when you do this they don't unravel on ya... If you use military flight gloves just stich the ends... Good luck |

I have had four pairs of Hatch gloves. All were comfortable, but two had threads come loose and self destruct for no good reason.
Oakely next time... |

I'm partial to Mechanix gloves. They're not too hot in the summer and I think the dexterity and durability is pretty good for what they cost.
I aslo like the old standard, nomex flight gloves. |

I like the Mechanix gloves, but whatever gloves you buy get used to them first, cuz they will feel weird if you aren't used to running your rifle while wearing them. Once you get used to them, it will feel weird when you take them off for lunch.

Another + 1 for the Mechanix gloves I bought them orignally for working on the cars/truck but found them to be good for multiple uses as i now hav a set in my range box

+1 on the Nomex flight gloves. I like the short cuff version. I think Hatch and Rocky both make versions, probably other too.

I tried the Hellstorms, but I went back to the nomex flight gloves. I haven't tried the short cuffs, but I kind of like just rolling the gauntlet part over my wrist. In the winter you can put mylar liners under them and still get a good feel for what you're doing. Tough stuff, wear great, and easy to find.

I tend to use Nomex, but I have a pair of Oakley that work fine as well. I like the Oakley knuckle protection for when things are rough and I'm slamming into "things".

Inexpensive, very flexable. Enough so that I can load mags with them on. |

Ringer nomex gloves work great! I've tried the Hellstorm SOLAG gloves but found that they were far too thick to shoot in. Nice glove just too thick and I had a difficult time feeling anything on my gun, especially the trigger!

Nomex CVC gloves. Good thermal protection, holds up pretty good (have to stitch a finger tip now and then)

I consider the BlackHawk HellStorm Stealth Aviator Gloves w/KEVLAR to be the best gloves I have ever used.

Why? I've never used gloves in any of my Patrol rifle/Carbean classes or any other classes for that matter. I've never even had a splinter in my pinkie finger. I've only seen a couple of guys wear gloves during class. |

If you wear gloves when you are running your weapon, you should train with them on as well. I wore nomex gloves in the desert, and as a cop I wear them as well for certain things as well. I make it a point to train with gloves on and off, there is a difference for me if I train without gloves and them start running drills with them on. Its the whole fight like you train deal.... |

Dig it! It is a bit different with gloves on. I'm just not sure why the guy thinks his hands will be all thrashed.
Our ranges are rocky and sandy and SUCKY as all hell, and I've never needed gloves or knee pads! Maybe at Gunsite where they get a little Psycho and shit. But a 12 hour course shouldn't be too bad. |

The first time I saw this question asked here I said basically the same thing "Why would I need gloves?" I have since found that they are very handy. I wear them about 50% of the time during a class. I have a tendency to tear up my knuckles or my palm when operating the CH under stress. |

I also like the Nomex gloves. I suppose if I really worked iwth my rifle for a living I might upgrade to the Oakleys or something similar, but for my uses cheap ole nomex works great.
