Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Gas block set screw help

I recently finished building a flat top ar-15.  I think I heard or read somewhere about adjusting the allen set screw on the side of the gas block to affect accuracy.  Seems as though the set screw adjustment could change the force of the bolt going rearward or some such thing.  Could any of you folks explain how this works.  I very much appreciate any help.
