Maybe a dumb question, but will ask it anyway!

Have my first AR & want to use a tactical sling from the top. If I install a rail sling swivel on the rail riding over the gas block, will this present possible damage to the block during carry due to the weight?

I think there are better places for a sling
If the gas block goes on the barrel via set screws, and they're not locked down with blue loctite, I guess I can see the gas block rotate and the gas holes misaligned.  I'd attach the sling to the handguard if possible.

Gas block rails are a tourist trap.  If you want to mount something, get a railed forend.

RRA customer service today indicated application I'm questioning would be fine. Since tube is set-screwed in 3 places, there would be no chance of it coming loose.

Was this then not true & someone else has found it just plain can't work?
