Just an announcement. The GTS/Dennys Guns Recon profile 6.8 barrels and bolts arrived today from White Oak Armament. Each barrel with ship with a 6.8 bolt.

HERE ARE THE PICS OF THE 6.8 BARRELS AND A BUILD I DID TONITE

TWO OF THE BARRELS, ONE DURA-COATED BLACK AND MASKED FOR LARUE GAS BLOCK.

CLOSE UP OF THE 6.8 BARREL MARKING

RANGE REPORT AND TEST TARGET PICS. AMMO USED WAS HORNADAY 110 VMAX AND REMINGTON 110 GRAIN LOAD, BOTH FACTORY

GETTING HER SIGHTED AT 100 YDS. 25 YARD ZERO WAS FIRST. SHOT HIGH AT 100 CORRECTED, TOO LOW, AND THEN RIGHT ON WITH SECOND SHOT TO CONFIRM ZERO

FIVE SHOTS AT 100 YARDS WITH HORNADAY V-MAX 110 LOAD

3 SHOTS WITH REMINGTON 110 GRAIN FACTORY LOAD, 3 SHOTS BECAUSE I WAS FREEZING BY THEN, TARGET IS MIS-LABELED HORNADAY. THIS IS THE REMINGTON LOAD.

The rifle worked just fine and no malfuctions with any of the ammo. Brass was ejected well. I used the rifle pictured above with the MK4 1.5X5 Leupold scope.

I DID HAVE JOHN AT WHITE OAK INCREASE THE DIAMETER OF THE BARREL PROPORTIONAL TO THE INCREASE IN BORE DIAMETER TO KEEP THE WALL THICKNESS OF THE BARREL THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL 5.56MM RECON, IT ALSO KEEPS THE WEIGHT THE SAME ALSO. SO IF YOU HAVE A 5.56MM RECON AND BUILD A SECOND 6.8 RECON THEY WILL HANDLE EXACTLY THE SAME IF YOU BUILD THEM IDENTICALLY.

OTHER OPTIONS AVAILABLE: JUST LIKE ITS SMALLER BROTHER WE CAN SELL JUST THE BARREL AND BOLT OR ANY GAS BLOCKS, GAS TUBE, RAILS, UPPER OR A COMPLETE CUSTOM BUILD.

THESE WILL NOT BE ON THE WEBSITE UNTIL SOME TIME TOMORROW. THERE ARE ONLY 11 AVAILABLE ON THIS RUN. MORE WILL BE COMING IN A MONTH OR SO. THERE WERE 12 BUT ONE IS MINE

AT THIS POINT THE LARUE BARREL NUT AND RAIL HAS BEEN ALIGNED AND NOW THE LARUE GAS BLOCK AND GAS TUBE ARE ATTACHED

HERE THE LARUE 13.2" RAIL IS CHECKED FOR LEVEL AND THEN INSTALLED

PHANTOM .308 FLASH HIDER IS ATTACHED, THIS IS JUST SERVING AS A THREAD PROTECTOR UNTIL I GET MORE PRI/MSTN 6.8 QUIET COMPS IN

I hate you with a passion, had my build all planed out

16" SS 5.56 barrel $200 but noooo you had to bring this.

What is the thread pitch for a sound suppressor/flash suppressor/ barrel brake?

5/8" X 24 tpi.

This just the initial run of these. I am also thinking of making the barrel available in a 12 inch. What do you guys think of a shorty 6.8 RECON?

What do you guys think of a shorty 6.8 RECON?

12"-12.5" catches my interest. I'd prefer a chrome-lined etc etc, but might still go this route instead!

6.8 mm is my next project since I have some ammo now and it's more available than in the past.

Any chance of getting the same barrel configuration in a faster twist (1:8 preferrably but 1:9 would do in a pinch) for heavier subsonic bullets? The barrel looks great, but I need something that will stabilize a 130-150gr bullet.

It could be done on a custom basis.

The rate of twist was John at WOAs recomendation. According to the test posted above the 1:11 does okay

He leaves the damn things here and there in the back of the shop. I have reached for the old blaster more than once coming in late at night and having one of these catch my eye, makes the old ticker speed up a tad for a split second, then ya cuss Fred.
