Looking for some GP90 ammo, which is the Swiss standard issue round. Or, a 62 grain FMJ round that is loaded to similar velocity. Does anyone know of where I might be able to obtain either?

Geez, I haven't seen any of that for ages.

No offense intended at all....Can I ask why you want some ?

Accuracy was very good for surplus, but the bullet was only so-so terminally.

XM855 won't work ?

I know Fed. makes some lead core 62 fmj, but I have never fired that specific round.

Winchester makes a white box 62gr FMJ that does not have the M855 penetrator as well. Might be close.

Haven't seen the Swiss stuff for years though. I still have a case of the Swiss M193 equivelant though.

I do not remember, is the Swiss stuff a duplicate of SS109/M855, or is it merely a 62 grain lead core FMJ???

If former, isn't M855 "close enough"?

If latter, get some Prvi 62 FMJ factory ammo or use Prvi 62 FMJ's and handload.

Oh, sorry, they ain't available, either!

{...good grief will the panic buyers cease fire so we who like to shoot can keep at it???}

No, GP90 is a 63gr FMJ, no penetrator, lead core, tomak (sp?) jacket and enviro-firendly plug at the base. Optimized for a 1/10 rifling twist used in the SIG 550. Don't remember what the velocity is like though.

There you go. I couldn't remember.

Well, maybe the Prvi is the best duplicate after all. I bought a few hundred of them a while back. They shot "OK" out of my Armalite M15NM and my Smith Carbine and I used them for casual 300 meter shooting. I also killed quite a mess of varmints with them. They are pisspoor killers as are all FMJ's, of course. I could improve that by loading them backwards, I guess.

Fiocchi also makes a 62 gr. lead core FMJ in .223. All of their .223 loads that I've tried seem to be loaded on the hot side. PSA has had it available on and off lately.

Developed in cooperation with the Swiss Army the Swiss P .223 Remington / 5.56mm Ball ammunition is produced to exacting standards and specifications. Considered a Match Grade cartridge the Swiss P line of rifle ammunition achieves 1 MOA of accuracy at 100 yards. This newly manufactured 223 ammo is headstamped "T" which stands for Thun Switzerland and guarantees you are getting genuine Swiss P quality. Designed to delivery precision accuracy from a Short Barrel Carbine this 63 grain Tombac Jacketed Lead Core round is packaged 50 rounds per box with ten rounds per polymer stripper clip. These polymer stripper clips are designed to fit the Stgw 90 rifle (Sig 550 series). This polymer stripper clip is NOT compatible with USGI stripper clip guides but the ammunition is easily removed or an adapter may be used.

Damn closest I've seen to legit Swiss GP90. Was in stock a few weeks ago, you're gonna want to watch this like a hawk to be first dibs if he ever gets more.

EDIT: Yep. That description makes it sound like GP90.
