I haven't actually worked with a one piece, but after some quick research it doesn't seem to usually be worth it. I can't find any reports of it being a groundbreaking or notable upgrade, but I can find a pretty good number of posts on them causing issues where standard 3 piece replacement's didn't.

Seems like a solution that's looking for a problem. Personally, I'd probably stick with the known constant of standard rings.

i use them when I can find them mainly because they are convenient but I don't sweat using the standard. They are the only ones used in the AR-10, so that's all I use for the big boys...

I have used MacFarland rings in my competition (NRA High Power & Long Range) rifle and have fired >15,000 rounds with no problems.  I find that they last longer than the 3-piece rings; they last the life of the barrel, and I get a new bolt with each barrel.  I think they're more consistent and there's no need for inspection/replacement under most conditions.

I have them in some of my rifles and 3 piece in other rifles.  They both work so I'd use either.

I have used them in all of my ARs since they came out.
It sounded like there was a bad batch out a while back, but I have never had any problems.
I rebuild my bolts at 5K so I don’t know if they last longer than regular rings.
