Do I need the front sight post adjustment tool to sight in my new AR? Can I use something else other than the "official" tool? I really don't want to spend any more money on a tool I will only use once. I went to a indoor range today to give the my AR the first practice range day. No problems at all except it shoots low at 25 yards. Its a pain in the as to get out to the outdoor range (two hour drive through LA traffic) so the 25 yard indoor range is all I have for the quick fix.

So do I have to buy the tool? Or will something else do just fine?

Well I just use the tip of the bullet on a round or a nail.

You don't need any tools - the tool just makes it easier for those of us who move the sight a lot, or to remove the whole thing.

Any pointy object will do - a nail, pen, awl, etc.

So I just push it down and turn? I decided not to screw around with it until I knew whether or not I needed the tool or not. I figured that would be a part I did not want to break...

Thanks for the help

missed this post by a day - ordered one as an add-on (figured as long as I was paying shipping anyway, this wouldn't increase it)...can't hurt, I guess.

On the front page of this site is a manuals and downloads link.  The TM is there.
