Does anyone have info/links to Free Float Handguards and what they are all about? How they are installed etc?

check the tagged/stickie thread in the "build your own" section. It will give you a good view of several different tubes and what is involved in their putting them on.

As to "what they are all about" lots of shooters like them for 2 reasons
1. A free floated barrel gives better accuracy as it eliminates the "random" changes in barrel harmonics due to contact with forends or handguards. This reason is most often used by varmint or precision match shooters who need the utmost accuracy. Unless you're using match grade ammo and are already a pretty good shot, you'll likely not notice the theoretical gain in accuracy--IMHO.
2. Many of the free floaters like LaRue, DD, YHM have rails on them for putting accesories like lights, optics, verticle grips onto your rifle.

Those are the two "real reasons" in my opinion. Another, for some types of FF tubes is that they can aid in barrel cooling. There is currently a healthy debate going on about the reality and effectiveness of this idea in the general ar discussion section.

Of course, for many, the REAL reason we use them is they look super cool.
