I am offering to build someone a set of midlength 607 handguards, for free.  All I ask is that you supply the upper, a good set of A1 h/g's, return shipping, and say something nice if you like what I build you.
I will need 2 weeks.
There is one exception. Must be on a retro upper (slickside or FA, slip ring, true .625 pencil barrel, retro muzzle device).

Yours will look something like this only 1" or so longer.
A real midlength FSB would have an additional "vent" or scallop... whatever the holes are called.

Oh yeah, I will repair them until Jesus comes back.. after that you are on your own.

That is a hell of a fine gesture my friend!

Would a RRA LIGHT WEIGHT barrel with a duck bill mounted on a A1 upper using a 2 position CAR stock be retro enough to work? Wife was looking for a retro carbine build. I know the RRA is .750 under the front sight base so it's not perfect. What if I mounted the barrel on my original "605" upper? Extra cool points for that.

Just got a set of HG's from a fellow member and am gonna do a shorty conversion myself. It will be almost like your shorty.

I am amazed at the generosity and building ability that goes around the retro forum, take that back,I'm not amazed,I am simply in awe.

jhud,

Awesome gesture!

Knowing that Garandboy is first in line, is it possible to cut down a tri-HG set without the upper?

The reason I ask is that I'm still searching for a suitable barrel.

Again, generous outreach!

Sorry Garandboy..... Has to be .625 all the way this time

My last victim had one of those RRA barrels, I think.

Hum. Point ms in the right direction for a correct barrel. I'm at a bit of a loss. Been waiting for the Brick mods to come back and looking for a 16 for the time being.

You would still have to buy a .625 FSB and have heatnbeat pin it for you.I think he charges around $60 to pin one.Don't quote me on that though.

On the bushy heavy 11.5" barrel, they are .750" correct,? so I would need the .750" forward hand guard retainer and then fit the modified hand guard to it.God I love this stuff.

So no one wants a midlength 607 set built on a .625 barrel.... . This is very embarrassing for me.

Need not be.These builds run in cycles, right now the hot ticket is the XM177E2..The ship has sailed on 607s but will be back for the next load of folks.Count on it.Just glad I didn't bust my chops making too many middy rear caps.

I just don't think that many retro guys have picked up mid length lightweight barrels yet.....everything I have is .750 at the fsb, of course they're also all 6.8spc's
