I'm looking for any information or pictures on the Colt model 6420 (16" carbine that came between the SP1 Car and the 6520).

How hard are they to find (obviously not that easy)?

Has anyone ever seen one of these rifles with fenced mag release?

What should I expect to pay for one in about 98% shape now that the ban is over?

The reason I am looking at the 6420 is that I want the M16A1 carbine look (A1 sights, pencil barrel, teardrop F/A with no deflector, old 4-pos stock, gray finish) and I want a complete Colt rifle (I have enough parts guns)

The 6420 seems like the closest thing to this.

I also saw the 6320 "police patrol carbine" on Specialized Armament's site, but they don't have a picture. Does it have the A2 F/A and case deflector? Anyone have a picture?

Thanks for the help

If you can find an early 6420, it probably will not have a case deflector. Most that I have seen did have one. The lower will be a slab side with no raised fence, and it will have the 2 headed screw pivot pin.

The stock most likely will be the genI fiberite stock. I've heard some very early 6420s were shipped with the old SP1 glossy black metal stock, but I have never seen one.

Yup, slab side, shell deflector, A1 sights, large pivot pin, small hammer/trigger pins, marked Sporter II Carbine, 16" pencil barrel.

I have never seen a Colt 6420 with a raise mag fence, nor have I ever heard of a Colt 6320. The Colt 6420 was pretty much a Green Label Colt 6520 with A1 sites instead of A2 sites. Here is a picture of one.

So pretty much a Colt 6420 with a 1:9?

Thanx.
