I picked up an upper from a co-worker years ago, and since everything AR is getting scare right now, i figured i finish another build before it's too late. I'm trying to get the flash suppressor off to change it, but it's not budging at all. I've broke/stripped enough things to know when to back off and re-evaluate the situation.

I believe this is an AK flash suppressor variant.

Anyone know if this could be pressed on instead of screwed on?

Dumb question as I'm sure you looked, but is it pinned?

The other side of the barrel looks the same, so if it's pinned, i'm not sure where the pin is.

No haven't done that yet, wanted to step back and think about it a bit before I broke/bent something. I put quite a bit of toque in it and nothing budged. I don't have a barrel vise, so i may have to go get some wood to put it in a vise. That washer in the end looks really thin. Almost like it was a sheath or something around the barrel.

Main reason for the post was to ask the hivemind to see if these flash hiders were ever pressed on.

Also if you go to the URL there is a pretty big pic of it. http://i.imgur.com/lXV1X.jpg that washer looks pretty thin.

Looks like one of the old Bushmaster's with the AK brake from the last AWB era (pre-2004).  If I'm thinking correctly they were pressed on and pinned/spot welded in place, I don't believe they had threads either, so you'll have to thread it too.
