My new Stag 6 position stock wobbles a bit more than I would like.  I know I have seen a few solutions in the past while surfing the board.  What is your favorite fix for the movement between the body and tube.  I tried a strip of duct tape, and I works ok.  It eliminates the play when fully compacted. However it is a little tough to extend the stock from the first position.  Any suggestions would be great.

Buying a CTR fixes play between stock and buffer tube real good.

ETA: Is it possible that you ended up with a milspec tube and a comspec stock?  I don't know if Stag makes comspec stocks, but it'd be an explanation if there was an unusually large amount of play between the two.

I like the m4 style and want to keep it.  Any other suggestions?

Remove from buffer tube and boil in hot water,,,,,,,cant remember how long (2min.?)

Do it for a bit and fit check, then do it some more if you want it tighter.

Some use a blowdryer on the stock. heat it up some, the squeeze it gently ... a little at a time.

Take the stock off and wrap it in a towel.  Then put it in a vise. Heat with blow dryer until warm.  Contonue heating and slightly compress vise. Go just a little.  Then put stock on.  If loose repeat.  Go slowly, getting it back open if you shrunk it too much is a bitch.

Better option: get better stock.

I am robot.

If you don't want to spend $100+ on a CTR then remove your stock & stick electricians tape on the round portion of the receiver extention. A quick fix, but makes the stock somewhat a PITA to manipulate. If you're remaining with one stock length all the time, no biggy. Just find out what stock spec you have & if you like it, buy the appropriate CTR if you can afford it. HTH.

I recently bought a STAG 6 pos stock cuz I needed a milspec buffer t00b!  Here are the two problems I see with the stock piece.

1.  The latch spring is very weak compared to a COLT 4 pos stock for example.  Not a big deal, but does contribute to the latch rattle a bit.

2.  The pin that actually engages the holes in the buffer t00b is TOO DAMNED LONG!!!  When the stock is off of the t00b, it's fine. there's not slop in the latch, etc.  When it's installed the pin is too long and thus leaves loads of play in the latch.  I plan on taking it appart an relieving about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch to correct this.

Another option would be to stack washers under the latch pin, but this would look crappy.  This is my first and LAST try at a NON COLT buttstock.

I think LMT does about the best job I have seen with their receiver extension/plastic stock fit. This is non CTR type stuff obviously. I just got a SOPMOD kit and that sumbitch is taught I tell y00. I wonder if it's the stock body or the t00b?  I will try the SOPMOD on a STAG extension I have laying around.

Take the stock off, get some industrial strength Velcro, put a strip of the 'fuzzy' side about 1/4" wide and about 2" long inside the stock along the middle of the tube just inside of the opening. Cures the rattle.

I think there may be two different issues here.  My stock body fits the t00b fine!  I suffer from chronic latch rattle.

I plan to order a COLT 4 pos body.  I put one of my Colt 4 Pos bodys on the t00b and it fit great.

The stag seems beefy and such, it just has a wimpy spring in the latch and the pin is too long.

Well I took the Stag appart last night and tried to get it into an acceptable condition.

The latch pin is hardened steel.  Since I don't exactly have a machine shop at the house I just reassembled it and tightened the latch pin nut as low as it would go and still accept the roll pin.

It made a big difference, but it's still no COLT stock.

Here's what the Velco fix looks like:

It works great.
