I've finally finished all my research and planning and have come up with these specs for my first build. I would like some input and see what everyone thinks.

Mega Arms Billet lower/upper set
Krieger 20" fluted bull barrel
JP 12.5" free float hand guard
Geissele hi-speed match trigger
Magpul PRS stock
Ergo PSG1 grip
AR-Restor buffer

I was thinking about a Young bolt/carrier set as well. Thats pretty much the last thing I have to decide so if anyone has some recommendations I'd love to hear them.

Please comment and let me know what you think.

My comment is this.
Send it to me when you are done building and I will test it for a few years for you bro.

Sounds like a SDMR setup?

Its going to be a nice rifle but heavy.  I'd reconsider the JP VTAC since the installation method is either very permanent (red loctite) or tricky (strap wrench and torque wrench). FWIW, the new Daniel Defense MFR would provide the same profile and what I'd consider a better installation method. It is also a bit lighter than the JP. And it will work on a rifle length gas system.

Alternatively the rifle length gas system and a low profile block could have a Troy 13.8 over it and still provide a nice handguard profile.

I've installed JP VTACs and since Troy is doing their version now I'd really consider the Troy ad infinitum

Good luck on your build sir.

I understand it's going to be heavy but I'm not planning on lugging it through the woods. As for the the JP Hand guard I looked around at some other options. I kind of like the YHM Free Float as well. Do you have any experience with that one? It's quite a bit lighter but doesn't show anything about installation on the site.

I considered the JP VTAC handguard for my 3-gun rifle and went with the Samson Evolution rail instead.  Very easy to install, very light, and customizeable.  .
