I'm nearing the end of my first AR/AR pistol build and I have a question concerning the gas block/gas tube/upper receiver. First, here are the major partrs I'm using...

- Del-Ton Lower Receiver
- Rainier Arms Match Grade 7.5" SS Barrrel
- Rainier Arms Match Grade Low Profile Gas Block
- BCM Upper Receiver
- Troy FTX 7.6" Hand Guard

Correct me if I'm wrong. After torquing the barrel nut, 1) put the gas tube into the upper, 2) put the gas block on the barrel, put gas tube into the gas block and pin tube to block, 3) install hand guard.

Question is...Does the gas tube being pinned to the gas block position the gas tube so it properly lines up with the bolt carrier key?

Thanks!

The x mark in the upper normally keeps the gas tube aligned with the key. For the most part anyways, there are other factors like gas port in barrel being straight but that's not issue on high grade barrel. I always pin the gas tube first before putting on barrel but that's if the gas block is set screw type cause I'm afraid if I punch the pin in it could be enough force to twist the gas block out of alignment. There are many ways to skin a cat however.

I hadn't thought of pinning the gas tube before putting the gas block on the barrel but it's a good idea since the gas block does have set screws. It has two set screws and the barrel has only one dimple. Should I drill another dimple for the other set screw or is one enough? I'll be sure and check everything before firing. Thanks for the reply.

A second set screw for the gas block is not absolutely necessary but,if it gives you more peace of mind then do it and it sure wont hurt to have the extra screw there either.

One dimple should be enough but if you want to you can dimple it under the second screw. I guess two is one and one is none. I just crank down on the screws and loctite them and never had a problem and none of my barrels are dimpled at all.

Assembly went smoothly thanks to you guys advice. This is how it turned out. I'm very pleased with the Troy Industries TRX BattleRail.

Not yet. One day this week though.

One thing that concerns me is the BCG. They were all OOS but I bought one off a forum member here in GA. Anyway, the carrier has the short ramp on the bottom that leaves the firing pin unshrouded. I have read that eventually this design takes a toll on the firing pin retaining pin. Like the second from the top.

You could perhaps solicit donations to eventually afford a spare pin.
