I have noticed the rim around the rear of the firing pin is getting chewed on its outer edge.Looks like from contact with the hammer when the carrier moves back to me.
I had noticed that it was starting to get a little rough but its really chewed after putting about 600 rounds through it at the MG shoot this weekend.
Is this normal and should I go ahead and drop the spare in there?

Drop the spare in when that one either breaks or stops functioning properly.

Thanks for the assistance.
The firing pin is not getting chewed on the front side of the collar/spool...but rather on the rear and its not hanging up.I will check my spare and see if it has a smaller diameter collar.

I dont think I will fool with it.Ive had too many problems with this Armalite A2.This is the third issue I have had with this rifle.Armalite said they are backed up so the warranty down time is long.
Going to trade it in an a Bushy carbine next week and see how that goes.

Naw,Ive been snake bit with this rifle from day one...its just one of those rifles that did not feel all warm and fuzzy from the start.Should have got rid of it a couple years ago.The more I use the rifle the worse it gets. This rifle is not even up 1,000 rounds yet and it has broke several times.
All Ive ever had is Armalite so Im due to try a Bushy.

Blankwaffe98,

you need to relieve the face of the hammer or get a shrouded bolt carrier.

What do you mean I've heard that term before

I shoot a 308 and my pin is kinda dong that to....not that bad though
