I'm running a colt semi circle carrier with a ar15 firing pin . I was going to switch to the full circle m16 carrier and was not sure if I needed a new firing pin or not .

Nope. Just use the one you've got. It'll work just fine

What part of the carrier is half circular or full circled? I take it half is semi-auto / AR-15 and full is FA / M16? I have what I believe is a CMT enhanced AR-15 semi-auto carrier, but it is for the most part a full circle...

Colt used a Sear block insert in the old receivers.  Because of this, the entire bottom of the back of the carrier needed to be removed to all the carrier to move all the way back during the charging stroke.  This type of carrier was the half circular carrier and looks like a C from the back.

Just what is the difference between the M16 and Ar15 (or auto/burst and semi-auto) firing pins?  The ones in the picture look the same to me, maybe a little different in size. Is that it?

The M16 FP, on the right, has a much larger diameter "collar" if you will.
