I had a thread up a while back about my .40 cal Oly/RRA upper that runs on .41AE Uzi mags. I only recently got around to taking it to the range. It ran perfectly with no failures of any kind. I shot Blazer Brass, some Hydra-Shok, and a ton of Speer Gold Dot HP's that I bought in bulk. No problems feeding the hollow points.

All in all, a sweet set-up but I still miss the LRBHO feature of the RRA style rifles.

Forgot to add... I was amazed at how quiet the 11.5/5.5" FS set-up is. Somehow the report is muffled to the point that I was able to remove my ear plugs for a few shots on an indoor range and it wasn't too bad. Weird.

Very nice rifle. Did you get the 11.5/5.5 barrel like that from Oly?

That rifle looks pretty sweet !! Gotta like the hybrid stuff

I've noticed the same thing with the 11.5/5.5 setup.... it can be fairly quiet with the 9mm.

OLY does sell their 9mm, .40 & .45 barrels in the 11.5/5.5 config.. it's a slight extra charge I believe.

I originally wanted to use factory Colt mags but the .40 cal rounds would just fountain out during hand cycling tests.... got lucky and found 4 NIW .41AE Uzi mags, they cost about the same as Colts.

Do you have a link to your old thread about the upper?

Unfortunately, I am not a member(yet) so I can't search past 30 days. Someone else may be able to post a link.

It got sent to the ARCHIVE server so it's inaccessible to non team members.

These things can be great if they run well. I have had mixed luck with a 10mm OLY and a 9mm. The ten was cool as hell, but the mag situation sucked. I do have serious problems with OLY's quality and customer support.

My LT took an oly .40 to a class at ISP headquarters. Several ATF agents were in attendance. The first time he fired it the thing went full auto and dumped mag. It did the same thing on several different occasions. Needless to say, the ATF guys had a good laugh. I believe OLY took care of it, but it took a long time. He sold the rifle as soon as he got it back.

I hope you got a good one.

does oly have these available now? I thought they had a 4-6 month wait.

Also how hard is it to get those mags? My dept. is strickly .40 cal, unless you go .223. I have that and need other toys!

thanks in advance

I bought the standard Oly .40 upper used on the EE and did the RRA conversion myself. The mags are pretty rare, I put a WTB ad on sunbguns and got lucky. Others use Sten mags which are about $5 each.
