Wow!
Excellent work! That color match is perfect! Did you have the upper refinished?

thanks guys! the upper has a couple coats of moly resin on it, the grayish black variety. I also used it on the barrel, fsb, charging handle and mag release button. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so i was really happy with the match

You should be happy with it! That chrome carrier looks nice as well.

i managed to pick that up last year when i started putting together parts for this project...managed to get it for 140 even at the height of the obama-scare...i don't think i could even find it again for that price now.  I can't wait to take it out for some real range time...i put 10 rounds through her just to test it out today, and I've got to say I like this one more than my RRA A2

You really should be happy with that match. I'd used Moly Resin a bunch, but never came up with a match that close. Nice work!

It's very, very funny you say that, because the same thing has been going on with me. You guys may remember that song from growing up, but I have the image of Forrest Gump and his platoon walking through those rice paddies while holding their M16's with All Along the Watchtower playing in the background.

Everytime I pick up mine, CCR's 'Better run through the jungle' starts playing at top volume...

BTW, you guys know that Bob Dylan wrote 'All along the watchtower' right? Jimi's version was best though. Kind of like how Ritchie Haven outdid the Beatles when he did 'Here comes the sun' at Woodstock.

The Byrds - Turn, Turn, Turn
The Rolling Stones - Paint It Black
The Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter

ETA: In my opinion, Morg, Bob Dylan's original version sucked. I was telling a friend about that not too long ago.

Micheal Hedges did the best version of 'All along the watchtower' I've heard since Jimi died...unfortunately he passed too. My brother in law did sound for him. My dad knew Dylan back in '60 in NYC when he was still Bob Zimmerman. He's a freak, but a genius. Jimi MADE that song IMO. When I start working again, I need to buy a Lava lamp...

plinkr - I totally agree with you on the Dylan thing. I like a lot of his stuff, but not that song.

ccr - run through the jungle

the beatles - revolution
