Can anyone give me some info on FN uppers as far as the quality goes. How do they compare with bushy & Colt?

First you must determine if the upper is truly FN. If you are talking about one of the parts companies that claims that there parts are FN, well they aren't really FN. This claim is made because it is easier to explain that they get there stuff from some of the same suppliers that FN uses for parts.

Since FN is uanble to sell their M16 parts on the open market, because of contract restrictions it is rare to find true FN parts for sale.  

If you are talking about the parts that may come from Model 1 or J&T then they work just fine. I have built several different rifles from these parts companies and they have all been fine. They may not have the same finish quality as Armalite, Bushmaster, or Colt but they do work.
