I'm looking to make an SBR even /more/ compact.
I've found a couple defunct products that're no longer made/supplied and I've also found the Gunsmoke Enterprises "GSE Pistol Buffer Recoil Kit" as found here: http://www.lwrci.com/p-244-gse-pistol-buffer-recoil-kit.aspx
I have read some concerns about the GSE not allowing the upper and lower receivers to separate as normal. If this is so, it is a deal breaker for me. Can this be confirmed by anyone who owns one. Most threads I've turned up are mainly repetition of hearsay.
Are there any currently available options for a super-short buffer assembly on a Direct Impingement carbine? It does not have to receive any type of buttstock as it won't be used for that anyways, and so I imagine the "Pistol" AR15 market is where these products are aimed, mainly.
I have no real length number in mind, I wish to create a much shorter collapsed length and will be coming up with a buttstock of my own design. I'm reinventing one wheel, but I figure I may as well not reinvent the receiver extension and buffer components if there's something short enough for my tastes that already works. It'll save me making and testing those parts myself and testing springs and buffer weights.
If worse comes to worse, I may have to make my own parts, but like I said - I'd rather save myself some hassle if it's possible.
Thanks
