I have a ML2 on my 11.5 inch entry gun and have zero complaints.

On paper, I'd go with the EO.

In reality, I'm good with an M2 at all ranges.... but I havnt sent off my form 1 yet to try it with a short gun at super close ranges. Also, no funds for an EO to compare anyways

FOV is a non issue as you shoot with both eyes open and the entire optic ghosts out and becomes transparent so there is 100% FOV for both optics.

Slight tint to the Aimpoint glass is a negative.  Slight cost increase for the Aimpoint is a negative.

EOtech has much lower battery life.  EOtech has slightly harder to use buttons.

Totally a matter of opinion.  In the end get what you want and you'll be happy with it.

...........that being said, Eotech all the way

Thought of another thing.....provided this will be a weapon that is stored away and will be may be deployed quickly, the two different mechanisms to turn each optic on should be thoroughly considered. Through training I have conditioned myself to automatically roll the AimPoint switch to the approporiate setting when retrieving the weapon. This is something I was not able to do effeciently with the EOthing.

EOTech.

I'm thinking of getting an ML3 for the battery life, though (unfortunately, that's the only reason as I like the EOTech better)

EOTech 1100 hours.  Seems like a lot of battery life to me.  Just carry a few AAAs for spares.  I know the ML3s have some crazy battery life.  I have a ML2 and love it but I want to try a EOTech.  Is there anything else I am missing? Thanks

Who ever heard of a Navy SF unit??

Do try to keep up.

I also didn't know that there were 10 Tier1 Units.

I believe JSOC has two Tier1 SMU's. But what do I know.

+1 on the 1st Group guys...and 5th Group...and 7th Group...and some guys who if they died their unit would simply be called "USASOC" or nothing would be mentioned at all.  They said the exact same thing "Aimpoint is yesterday's tech."

That being said, Aimpoint is a top quality optic, just not my pref.

YMMV

It's not an SBR... yet!

In addition to the fact that the FOV is better, it's more economical for an equal or better (your call) quality optik.

I just bought a 512(F) from one of the dealers here on the board for $295 shipped

FWIW,the Short Dot is making strong inroads in the SF community.  I first heard about them a year ago, but was turned off by the price.  Now that all the cool kids are using them I think I'll have to get one

Once you factor in the cost of the optic, LaRue mount/spacer and 50,000 hours of batteries, the Aimpoint is not much more expensive.

But the Larue mount/spacer is purely optional based solely on the preference of the user with the EOTech.

Not so with the Aimpointer.

Aweful hard to shoot with an upright head and a direct mounted EOTEch. For me, at least.

I see your point, for sure, but I have it mounted on the upper and am happpy with it.

How much does the Larue mount raise it, anyway? It doesn't look like it's that much.

Since the claim has been made that SF units prefer the EoTHING, can someone give some insight as to how they are usually deployed. Not being familiar with the job, I wonder if they leave them on at all times when "on watch" ( or whatever, ready for the shit) or do they have to manually turn them on before engaging. The Points battery life allows one to keep it on for the duration of the war (give or take) making such a thing not necessary. This seems it would be a big deal to me.... Then there is the issue of quick reticle brightness settings....

I think he should get both.....
