I saw a post a couple of weeks back where someone was mentioning the 553 was having trouble fitting to some of the "out-of-spec" flattop rails.  I haven't found another post to substantiate this claim and I want to know from other members if they have this problem before I dump $550 dollars on another Eotech optic.  I had to send a 552 back to the factory to have the base repaired to prevent it from canting to the left, so I'm leery of spending more money on another new Eotech product.  Eotech's customer service was awesome and fixed the problem, but its like buying a first year production car before the bugs are worked out of it.  I would be mounting the optic on a RRA upper.

Good point.  I guess a better question would be for those who have bought the optic and mounted it on a RRA upper.  How did it perform?

It has worked perfectly on my RRA Entry Tactical, no problems at all.

Fits fine on my RRA upper.  Also fits fine on my YHM rail, MI rail, and Alexander Arms .50 Beowulf upper...  At the moment is is mounted on my YHM rail after much experimenting with which position I prefer.

My 553 works and fits fine and tight on my RRA.

if your rail is out of spec, that's the only way it will not fit..either really loose sloppy fit or a super tight and you cant close it. The rra rifles are known for decent quality..like everyone else said..you're good to go.

stag, Vltor, colt... they fit on the ones at the shop. If you have fake(knockoff) rails don't blame eotech. I suggest you buy a real upper for a hundred bucks instead of getting a knock off, you might get another piece of equipment that won't fit rails it wasn't designed for

So far my 553 has fit perfectly on my Colt, Bushmaster, and LMT uppers.

Mine fits great on my LMT`s and Colts. I would have liked a Troy clamp system too, but the ARMS levers lock down real nice on everything I have.

I think the arms mount is Bullshit and the Larue!

I wish thay would of made it like the 551

FSB doesnt get in my way at all
And why add a extra mount that isnt really needed.    KISS

So Eotech PLZ make a model like the regular ones

my 552 cants to the left on my dpms upper,  but if i move it ahead to my troy rail, it fits fine... out of spec dpms, what else is new.

Will it fit on Daniel Defense Rails? I heard that someone had trouble, Can anyone else confirm it?

Thanks,
Nathan

My 553 doesn't fit my ARMS 50M the way I'd like. I want to be able to "slap it on", but it takes a considerable amount of coaxing to make it fit so it'll lock down. It's definitely not something that can be done in a hurry.

On my 50M it's also way too high. Think "chin weld".

My 553 fits on my CMMG upper and my DD 9.0 Lite. No problems what so ever. Great sight.

FMJ,

Please send whatever LaRue stuff you have back for a complete refund.  We cannot sleep knowing we have a disgruntled customer out in the world.hinking.gif

Mark LaRue

Mr. LaRue, you are a stand up individual! ho
Do you have any plans for an M14/21 mount? I will sell my ARMS #18 and #22 rings and buy your products for my M1A when available...

My experience with arms mounts is not that they will always/ never fit on any particular type of Mil-Std-1913 rail, but rather there is a fair amount of inconsistency in the mounts themselves causing them to be too tight (not so common) or too loose (more common) on a variety of rails.
If you remember, an arms shill posted on this forum stating that the mount was designed to be "soft"- apparently (considering his status in the company) an official explanation as to why the arms mount slides to and fro on more 1913 rails then they would like to admit.
Additionally, i have seen enough broken arms levers to convince me that it is not an optimum mount.
All of my arms mounts were replaced with Larue mounts a long time ago. SF lights, optic mounts etc.
I have a choice, and my choice was to what works- not what doesn't.

Two questions.

1. Why does arms keep getting these contracts i.e. EOtech and elcan specter DR?

2. Why do civilians keep buying arms when they have so many problems and Larue is so much better.

I have a lt100 for my acog and it was the same price as the arms mounts but there wasnt even a second thought of who to go with.
