I just got a Larue LT110 mount for my 552 since I like the height of my new 553 so much. I went to install it on my LMT upper yesterday and the bottom front of the Eotech was hitting the top of the handguards. I tried both a CMMG double lined set and a set of Colt M4 handguards and both had the same problem. I called Larue and talked to Mark and he said he had never heard of this problem. I figured with many thousands of these out there someone has to have run into the same problem. I filed the top handguard about .060" and I was good to go. I have the Larue mount flush with the front of the receiver and the Eotech as far back as it will go.

In any case, it's on now and I love it. It will be nice to pull the 552 off when cleaning the rifle and be able to put it back on and know it's still zeroed.

Has anyone else had this problem or am I the only one? Maybe it's because everyone else has rails, but I doubt it. Thanks, Andy

I had the problem as well with my colt 6920. I installed a LaRue 7.0 FF to correct it

I put round (vice oval) handguards on my LMT.  I tried a friend's 552 on Larue riser and had no contact.

I had the same problem.  It wouldn't clear my Cav Arms M4 handguards.  I ended up selling the mount.

The regular carbine handguards are not a problem with clearance. Just switch handguards.

After using the M4 handguards for a while I wouldn't want to go back to the small handguards. I like the way they feel and their insulating properties. It removes what little desire I do have to put a rail set-up on any of my ARs. Like I said, I filed mine so everything is OK, but I was curious how common of a problem this was.
