That's actually not a bad idea. Throw your CTR on the EE to trade for an EMOD or IMOD and then fill the battery tubes with some kind of weight.

Standard A2 stock with a Ray Vin lead wedge in it.

Really good ideas, I think I have an A2 stock laying around somewhere....  I'll have to see about that wedge that can go in there

The Ace SOCOM stocks are quite heavy and still adjustable.

Match shooters do that, but I don't know how much, you'll care for it on a standard carbine.

Just a thought: take the rail forend off and replace it with a lighter weight FF tube. It does not look like you are using the rail anyway.

I believe that the Emod is one of the most rear heavy stocks.

Sell the CTR stock you have now, buy a VLTOR mod stock from BCM (on sale right now for $50), then fill each side with 3 CR123 batts for your weapon light.

+1 to this.

And if you can't lose the rail because the cool kids won't let you hang out with them, get one of these and put batteries in it.

+2. If its too heavy reduce the weight up front is best IMO. However, if you want the uber cheapest solution, go get some lead tape from the local Golfsmith and apply under the buttpad of the CTR. Shave the butpad down or cut a space in it to make room for the tape if you need the thick stuff in layers.

If your going to put MORE weight on your rifle why not make it USEFUL.

Put a stock mounted mag pouch there. sure as hell beat gluing lead weights on it

I said cheapest solution, not the best solution.
Thats pretty good idea too! Actually thats the best I've seen, besides reducing the weight up front.

Cheapest way with some rebar in the battery holders.

This is the route I'm going on a similar rifle also with a 12" FF tube, pencil barrel, and CMR 1-4x. I already have the Modstock so I'm just going to play around with different weights in the storage tubes; Hopefully CR123s will do the job.

I have the vltor mod stock and instead of weights just fill the compartments with things you need.Between my MIAD grip and the stock theres plenty of things in the compartments that will ad some extra weight. The best way to get ARs to balance wether HBAR or M4 prfile is just use 14.5 or 14.7 barrels with permanent flash hiders or comps. The Vltor mod stock is already about 5 ounces haeavier than a type 2 standard telestock and a bit heavier than the MOE.I dont know if CAA makes compartments that snap on that make it look like a modstock for the MOE but they have ones that fit type 2s.

But do you really need to have 10 inches of rail on each side to put a light that uses 2 inches of rail? If I could have done it over, I would have just forced myself to be patient and waited for the Troy Extreme rails to get in instead of just grabbing the much heavier quad rails when I build my 20 inch. I only ever put a flashlight on the side, a grip on the bottom, and one of my scope rings is on the top. So much wasted space that does nothing but add weight and bulk.

I did put the DD Omega quad rail on my 6920, but it's smaller and lighter than just about everything out there, including the plain tubes. The only thing I've found lighter is the DD Light, which I avoided because I didn't feel like taking my barrel nut and front sight off.

You could probably sell that rail for more than the cost of a Troy or APEX and shave some total weight instead of having a heavy, but balanced, rifle.

Thats whats on mine and its pretty light.  I dont need all that extra rail, but I liked the way it looked, so I got it.
Dont get me wrong, its pretty nice as is, I just want a little more weight near the back.

It would be interesting if someone made a metal plate that went under the rubber pad of the CTR. Could make it out of something heavy (tungsten would be good but expensive)?

Put up the CTR for sale on the EE and get an ACS stock with AA or 123 batteries in the storage tubes.

I'll buy that ctr off you

Send me a pm if you want to get rid of it assuming it's mil spec?

9mm buffer?

I can't believe no one else suggested this seeing how it's the cheapest, easiest and IMO best solution. You can get a Colt 9mm buffer from PK Firearms for $25 and not only will it add a little more weight to the rear but will also lower felt recoil, increase lock time which leads to more positive extraction and helps lower bolt bounce. All my AR's with carbine receiver extensions have 9mm buffers installed and have so for years now without the slightest negative issue.

Going to a fixed stock with an rifle buffer is also a good solution but a fixed stock may not be your cup of tea and unless you have one laying around, that will cost you more money then a 9mm buffer. A heavier carbine stock like the SOPMOD, ACS or UBR will help too.

From there all you can do it lighten the front end. Looks like you are using a DD Omega 12.0 which is already pretty light but if you replaced the Omega with an 11"  Troy TRX Extreme BattleRail you could loose around 6oz which is pretty significant. Just those 2 changes would make your gun lighter and make a huge difference in the way you gun handles and the CG.

What is the profile of your barrel? If its an Bull or HBAR then having it re-profiled will also make a big difference.
