I was looking at the EOTech red dots and was wondering if you need a mount to mount it on top of a flat top in order to have it co-witness. By the looks of the pictures I have seen it looks like it sits high enough that no additional mount is neccessary. Is this right?

Nothing else is needed; you are correct.

No extra mounts needed, but some of us think it sits a hair too low - the front sight is about halfway up the window.

This question would be perfect for the EO Tech FAQ. [:)]

I have seen the 500 series for 234.00. Is it any less of a scope compared to the 510 tactical?

Well, if there is an ACOG conspiracy, I'm part of it now too. But I guess I would also be part of an EO Tech conspiracy as well.

500's are "standard"
510's are "tactical"

I'd go w/ a 510..includes protective hood and tooless mounting bolt. The hood comes in handy if you ever accidently rap the sight assembly. The cost difference is pretty minimal [:D]
