I just bought my first AR and I'm doing some scope shopping...

Can someone tell me the key differences between the EO Tech 552 and the 553? I'm not a Special Forces door kicker or anything, but is the 553 worth the extra dough? Any help with this is greatly appreciated...

+1

Off the top of my head . . .
the 553 comes in Dark Earth
the 553 sits approx 1/4" higher on the flat top
the 553 has a teathered battery compartment
the 553 is waterproof to 66ft vs 33ft on the 552 (double check that, I am not 100% on the numbers)

there might be some others . . .

Also has the ARMS QD mount.
The 553 is also slighty shorter than 552.

It all depends on whether or not those feature mean anything to you.

I would like to know battery lifes of the 553 compared to the 552 with Alkaline and compared to the 552 with Lithium AAs -- all on the same setting.
