I looked at these today and the shop says yes.  I see RRA's sells a rear site and base to make this happen.

Which is the actual case?

Thanks,

Mike

An EOTech mounted directly to the upper receiver will have an absolute co-witness. An EOTech mounted on one of the typical risers offered will provide a lower 1/3rd co-witness.

I understand the first part of your reply.  Thanks!!

I am not so clear what you mean by 'lower 1/3rd co-witness'.

If you divide the EO’s Field Of View (FOV) into thirds, a riser would raise the EO so that your iron sights appear in the lower third of the FOV. This provides for a clearer, uncluttered, view of your target.

Got it now.

That is good information.  I am running a cheapy red dot for now until I can save the pennies for an EOTech or other high quality optic.   The cheapy needs a riser and now I know it will be useful with the better optics.

Thanks.

RRA offers a "Dominator2" eotech mount that puts the eotech reticle just above the iron sights. To use the BUIS you have to turn off or ignore the eotech and vice versa. Since you stereo vision with the eotech you should be able to pick this up. One-eyed shooters have to "relearn" when going to an eotech or other true holo sight.

I have a 551 eotech mounted on my LMT M4 14.5 FLAT TOP with arms 40 BUIS

I feel that the EOTECH is best mounted this way!

The FSB doesnt get in MY way Period!

Alot of guys like the Larue mount wich will make cowitt in the LOWER window

I dont Beline on putting a MOUNT ON A MOUNT

But On the other HAND

A LARUE MOUNT will HOLD ITS ZERO PERIOD !!!  when you take it off/on

I never took my 551 off to find out if it will KEEP a ZERO

BTW

I like EOTECH and all But I like my Aimpoint  ALOT Better
