I ordered 100 bulk case of ammo from a online company. It is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I just looked at the shipping weight and it says 2.90 pounds.

Am I loosing my mind when I would think 1000 rounds would weigh only 2.9 pounds??

Sorry I just have nothing to compare how much a bulk box of 5.56 should weigh.

Any info would be appreciated

I just sent 415rds of IMI (9 30rd boxes) and Federal (6 20rd boxes and 25 loose rounds in a ziplock baggie) 5.56 and it weighed approx. 12.5 LBS. on the UPS provided scale at work.

Dang It! That's what I thought. Well thanks for the info. Well I will wait till UPS shows tomorrow. Maybe its a mistake and it will arrive. I knew something seemed fishy.

Thanks again

100 bulk case of ammo is 10% of 1000 round case and 1000 is approx 29 lbs so 10% would be 2.9lbs, maybe Im missing something.

Typo, someone put in a decimal when they shouldn't have. Weight will vary depending on packaging. Boxes with the plastic dividers in each 20 round box will weight more than something like PMC that is just in cardboard. A 1000 round case of PMC weighs I think 24 pounds. 29 would be right for ammo that has the plastic in each box. It adds up, plus the extra cardboard used.

Well they split ship my order. I just got a tracking number this morning from them with a package weight of 27 pounds.

Thanks for the great contribution to this thread.

I have never ordered this much ammo at one time so I asked the "dumb" question.

I said dumb question because you didn't even put the same number of rounds for both sentences lol, did you order 100 or 1000?  I even made them bold...

I apologize for my typo. It was 1000 rounds. I will try to do better next time!

Now you're on "the list" for ordering huge amounts of ammo.  Who in their right mind would ever need 1000 rounds?

I used to joke about the 55 gallon drum of 5.56 that had 12,500 rounds for like 5 grand.  When ammo was so scarce that would have been like the holy grail.
