They were developing the belt fed Shrike upper. They took deposits and failed to deliver or manufacter it after several years.

man, these people don't have a ounce of shame..........guess they figure if people are stupid enough to send them money for a deposit for a non-existant weapon, there will be more stupid stupid people to fall for this scam as well

When I read the title I thought, " Oh yeah, I will hurry up and move out a static, non moving parts system for something that will need tinkered with more than a 1968 Harley Davidson".

And then I see who it comes from.............

Link Posted: 8/3/2005 3:26:38 AM EDT
well nevermind then........... I was thinking about maybe developing one. I am currently looking at different designs and setups on different rifles seeing if I can duplicate it......... but I dont know why, the gas system on any of my rifles has never actually failed me yet. "Then why?" you ask.......because???......????......?????.......??????........ ummmmmm........... bored maybe?

I think they are still taking deposits and promising production if anyone still wants to hop on the Shrike bandwagon.

They had the gall to show up at Shot Show, IIRC.

Actually ARES had the piston upper at this years Shot show. There was a link to photos Ed A. took at Shot Show of the piston upper on the Home Page of AR15.com, but the link no longer works. If memory serves me correct, it uses a long stroke piston. Now just because they had one at Shot Shows doesn't mean sh*t.

Man I laughed out loud at the first pic when I saw Ares on it...cause I knew what a shitstorm it would cause!

Talk about shameless, this is what, three years now of no production to prepaid customers?

Did you notice the disclaimer right after the article? That was hysterical... If I remember it was on the opposing page at the end of the article... I haven't notice a disclaimer on other stories I have read in their rag. It felt like they were trying to convey, "I know what your think... We don't buy this crap either... However, they paid us well to do the article."

Soldier of Fortune magazine puts a disclaimer at the end of all the weapons test articles.
