There was that one of many "What weapon are you bringing when the SHTF?" thread. M4geries were popular along with not a few FALs, AR-10s......... But I absolutely lost it when [sorry, forgot your name but would enjoy a drink with you] one guy just posted one word for his choice: Charlene. da-da-damn, I bet she's beautiful and dangerous. Dave S Have only one of my AR-10s named. It's a (T). Melissa....Sweet Melissa.

Mostly they go by "my first on", "my second one", "my newest one", etc., but the one that kept me company all through boot camp was called "Lucy", or "loose-y" because the upper and lower rattled. After that one was a near-new M16 "34" for the number stenciled on the buttstock in yellow. I argued with the armorors, "how tactical is yellow?" but their reply had merit in that anyone who'd be able to see it should be pacified or dead. Good point, but I missed Lucy. Semper Fi, Otto

I named mine "reason". As in "I'm sure they'll listen to reason" apologies to Neil Stephenson
Link Posted: 5/8/2003 7:54:03 AM EDT
Damn, that's a brilliant idea!!! I can name one AR Diane (for Feinstein) and the other Sarah (for Brady)! I'd bet they would LOVE that!!! LMAO Of course, that would be an HONOR to those two "females" (I can't come to call them ladies or even women), so I'll just stick with "M4" and "A4," their types.

My Eagle Arms Preban's name is Armana [;)] That was the only thing I could get out of "Eagle Arms" that sounded anything like a female's name. Just joking around with a friend, I didn't explain anything I just started ranting. "I met a new girl today...." "Her name is Armana" "She asked for me to oil her up..." "She's a much darker then I normally like them but I think I love her" She was really confused at this point, it was pretty funny after she realized what I was talking about. [:D]

when i was in basic way back in the day, i had a thing for this girl "Audrey" back home...so i named my M16 Audrey. after that it was just tradition..ive carried M16s, M4s, M203s, M60s, SAWs...all were called Audrey. I've always considered the idea of inanimate objects having names pretty ridiculous until I realized that if they didn't, how would they know their husbands were speaking to them when they asked for a beer?
Link Posted: 5/8/2003 12:19:18 PM EDT
I call mine Chas. Short for Chasity my fiance. Yes I know, but she likes it as much as I do. Everytime I go to shoot it, my wife to be usually takes it and it's hard to get back from her. Kinda like a kid and a candy bar. I'll take my Glock to have something to shoot. Kinda cool though. AN

My ARs names are Homer, Bart and Thumper. The SAR-1s name is Bubba. Every one of them has their own story. A little insight into how Thumper got his name: Wife: How could you just shoot a poor defensless rabbit? Me: It's easy Hun, the AR round is so hot you don't even have to lead em. You'll get the hang of it! Wife: I can't believe you would just shoot Thumper like that! DILBERT_556
