Get an ARMALITE mid-length.
Send it to ADCO.

Call ADCO, purchase RRA mid length from ADCO, and have ADCO turn the barrel down.

I'd call ADCO and find out what all is needed and how much it will cost. The gas port is pretty close to the muzzle, so my instinct would tell me there may be some gas port tuning needed to be done. I'm not a an expert though, so contact ADCO and they can hook you up with what you need.

You'll probably also need that gas port opened up a bit.

Just get a midlength and put rifle length handguards on it. I know it's a disipator (however you spell it) style, but it's reliable, and you can switch out muzzle devices.

Does the Colt Commando require a wider gas port to function reliably?

What about the LMT 10.25"?

Yes to both. Gas port size is related directly to the length of the barrel and the distance from the gas port to the muzzle (the shorter the distance the larger the port needs to be to compensate for the shorter dwell time).

This has been done many times, without a need to open the gas port.

What is the cost, and turnaround time to chop the middy, rethread, and perm a 5C2? No need to turn down the barrel

Total Silence, Inc. makes an AR that's very close to what you want.

On a 16" to 14.5" middy? 16" & 14.5" carbines have the same gas port, but when you chop it shorter it needs opening up due to the reduced dwell time.

What is RRA running on gas port size for their 16" middy's?

I rather like that. I haven't been too keen on the mid-ies but I like the looks of this one.
