You can buy 3 piece receiver kits for Macs, but what about other guns? Does anyone make receiver halves? I have seen pictures of these, in the past, for 1911 and the Sig 228 but cant find any info on these, anyone know? TIA

With the AR-15 you get a lower receiver , this is the part with the serial number, then most get a kit, that contains the parts to complete the lower, and a complete upper.

I was talking about homemade receivers, esp pistols.

I forgot who it was who made a scratchbuild receiver for the AR.  It was quite a feat of engineering.  I liked it a lot. Now I can't find it anymore.

Here's a link posted by Builders Squad. It describes all the procedures to complete 80% lower. Please check "http://www.concealcarry.org/ar15/bs-home.htm".
