When I think of all of the money I pissed away during the ban on magazines. $40 was good for a usgi m14 mag, $20 was a steal for decent AR mags, I don't even want to think about the prices I paid for hicaps for my Para Ordnances. I just paid $91 for TEN ar magazines. Maybe I'll just keep buying them now and make them into a fort or something.

I try not to let it get to me. I keep busy stocking up on even more mags.

Rule of thumb: If you can breath easy, stow hard.

Seems like there's some breathing room these days. Sadly, I don't hold much hope for the next generation. I'm doing my part right now.

Best investment I ever lost moeny on . No worries .

I only want to throw up when I see USED AR mags for $30. I never had NIW mags during the ban, I wasn't willing to pay for them.
Link Posted: 4/14/2006 12:19:06 AM EST
The only prices I want to throw up for is the price of GAS!!!!
Link Posted: 4/14/2006 3:26:37 AM EST
No way. I am happy as can be at being able to get mags for less than $10 a piece. I did not buy one single AR mag during the entire ten-year ban. I'm doing all I can to make up for that now!

Since in NY we can't get new mags, old onee are still in the $20 -$20 range. I wouldn't cry over spilt milk. From my point of view, those of you on post ban states should just enjoy the opportunity you have in front of you. Stock up while you can. For me, it's rebuilding old mags and buying them when I can afford it.

Don't get me wrong, I like the current prices. I had a buddy spend $80 for a glock mag during the ban.

... Nope

... In the same vein, I wouldn't be vomiting if we somehow managed to repeal the NFA'68 act

Knob Creek had OKay mags for $10 each w/ the green follower....

I spent $75 each for 4 Glock mags; NONE of them turned out to be reliable with JHP ammo. Talk about pissed off. Now I stocked up at $16/mag...never again will I pay such prices.

I'm happy as hell about current mag prices. I'd be even happier if I could find the bag/box of 30 or so I lost.
Link Posted: 4/14/2006 4:42:54 AM EST
most I ever paid during the ban was $65 for 6 or so Sig 226 mags, and $50 or so for 4 Glock 23 mags
wasn't a big rape, but that's what the mkt was, think back to 2000 for example, ban's been in place for 6 years, 4 more years it might expire, those were uncertain times

the most I paid and it definetly sickens me was $75 for a OEM 17rd S&W Sigma 9mm Mag and $30 was the most I paid for an AR mag, it was a 20rd unused USA mag. I didn't know anything about AR mags when I bought it but the 9mm was normal price.

Nope...I love the cost of mags now.

I sold more mags than I bought during the ban.

For example I was getting $75 for as-new HK91 preban mags, for example. I was doubling my money. It turned out to be a nice investment.

Mags are kinda like stocks - you have to think of cost averaging.

So keep buying more at the low price and your average cost per each will go down.

and if the next ban hits - you will be set!!

I know that about two years before the ban was lifted - I thinned out the heard - getting rid of my lesser quallity mags and buying better ones.

Buy Low Sell High.

It's harder than you think.

i payed 90 bucks for bc 10/22 25rd mags now they are like 20 that makes me sick
Link Posted: 4/17/2006 6:10:29 AM EST
What about 13 rnd G21 mags?

At one time they were worth $100 or more, now they are $16......, (most I'd ever paid for mine though was $25 so I don't feel too bad)

Mike

ps - don't worry about it though, buy 'em while their cheap as they'll be up going up again before long.......

I don't like it because I can't afford to buy any.

By the time I will be able to (probably July) they're bound to be up plenty high.

The most I paid for mags were $50/ea for P90 mags.

Just imagine all those beers and hard drinks and bottles of wine and smokes you took in your body then piss them out or blew out. All that money gone to waste. U could spend that on guns and stuff. OH dont forget about all the strip bars and clubs too.

Neither did I. Of course, I didn't have an AR then. I DID have 14 NIW Colt 20 round mags in my trunk from my Army phase. 18 months ago I used that to rationalize buying a Bushmaster

Things have a way of working out.

It's called dollar-cost-averaging.

Keep buying and don't worry about it.

Hell I am like everyone else here. Get them while you can.

Vomit, eh?

I bought 30 after 30 (70% or better on finish) @ $15 each during the ban, and original 20s w the alum follower (50% or better) for $9-10 all day long DURING the ban. Yeah, a few bucks more than the going rate of NIW 30s today, but after hearing some of these new contract range reports I'm not so sure I am bummed. I have zero regrets about my 20s.

Now MY Para Ordnance Mags?! I had 12 of them... 10 were nickel bodied and with the extended base plate. Not only did I take it w/o the lube getting them but the gun was stolen this fall and I really took a beating selling them in this market.

Aw hell.... I paid some large $ a couple of years ago for 30 rnd. English mags and just recently gave them away to support the raffle for 82nd_AB. No big deal and a good cause. Besides, I wanted some new teflon-coated aluminum mags anyway .
Link Posted: 4/17/2006 9:19:15 PM EST
I have some preban mags for AR, G21 and G17 that I paid way too much for. If you would like I will sell them to you at old school prices. $90 for a G17 mag anyone?
Link Posted: 4/18/2006 5:32:37 AM EST
I would like to see them get a little lower in price
