Er, Beretta made M16 mags?  unless the mag FAQ has been updated recently I think you may be incorrect...got a reference for this?

My friend has an M16 mag that has PB on it with a serial number on it. I was told it predated any HK M16 mags that were made. I has a metal follower in it made, the mag is made of all steel and the follower doesn't tilt to boot.

You guys know nothing of these?

Sure its not an AR70 or 70/90 mag?  I'm pretty sure those are STANAG which would imply at least to me that you could use them in an AR-15/M16 type weapon.

Got some pics, uploading them now.

I couldn't get resolution great enough to get clear markings of the letters and number but here are some decent pics of the mag.

Looks like it could easily be an AR70/90 mag, which are STANAG and can fit the AR-15/M16.

Those are AR70 mags, and are different.  The AR70/90 is STANAG compliant and the magazines are essentially "M16" style.

I had purchased some very rough Colt mags from 44mag.com over a year ago to replace the mag bodies w/ new Teflons when the ban was still in effect.  I think I paid $4.50/ea knowing that they were to be "dented, busted & in poor shape".  Around a dozen had what appear to be those exact metal followers in them.  I think I kept them in my odds n' ends bin.  They seemed to work OK but I had no idea where they would have come from, their quality etc- so didn't chance running them in an aluminum mag tube.

Yeah I know, I have little experience with this camera I took well over a dozen pics of the letters and serial number.
The best Pic I got was the bottom picture. You can see the little characters on the mag....be it very blury .

It's the best I could do sorry.

Just throw it in one of the Ar's in the shop and see if it works.

Oh it works alright.

Stan said it was a rare mag, because it preceeded the HK mags.
