A 14.5" barrel with a permenant flash suppressor would prevent you from getting the front sight all the way off. Does the SIR slide onto the reciever from the front, or install directly from the top over the rail on the A3 upper?

Either the [b]C[/b]ivilian or [b]M[/b]ilitary model will go on directly from the top.  The M version will require you to cut your D-ring off with a Dremel (or remove the barrel and take the D-ring off from the rear).  Neither of these require taking the front sight off.
