I have a flush barreled Colt H-Bar, 16" and want to install a match trigger. Do I need to remove the Colt trigger pin to determine the size? A micrometer to the outside of the pin is at .155 but I know this is not a good judge.

There are plenty of .155 pinned Colts out there, but the rule of thumb seems to be that the newer the rifle, the greater the likelihood that it will have the .170s.  In other words, this might come down to how old your rifle is, or which specific model number it bears.  There's a decent table in Black Rifle II that addresses this, but your description is too generic (at least for me) to offer a more definitive answer.

Yep, I was pretty sure I would need to pull the pins. Next question; will the .154 pins stay in .155 holes? Looking at a Timney.

If you've got the model number for your lower (i.e. R6721, MT6731, et al.), I would be happy to look this up for you.  That said, to the best of my knowledge the only HBARs that shipped out with .155 pins were the 20" models.

Black Rifle II says .170 (page 282), and based upon the fact that this is a fairly new model, I'd say it's probably spot-on.

That eliminates the Timney. Any other choices? I don’t like the McCormick.

Timney is supposed to have a Large Pin trigger coming soon. You may want to contact POF or Timney and ask them for an updated delivery date.

I'll give POF a call next week. Can't find any info for Timney.

You've tried to mike the pin while it's still in the receiver? And it looks like it's .155"? Correct.

You don't have to completely remove the hammer pin, just push it out one side of the receiver and get a good measurement. Nothing to it. Then you'll know for sure, 'cause you'd sure as hell hate to order the wrong parts.

They'll stay in just fine.  There's normally at least .001" play in the holes.  The j-spring in the hammer, and the hammer spring hold the pins in place.

Ive got a 2 stage Jewel in my Colt. and a Jp enterprise in my 9mm Colt due to the fact i wanted to use the Colt 9mm hammer. Both are nice but the Jewel is better.
