I bought 39 boxes of Q3131 in a .50 cal. ammo can today at a fleamarket for $95. It is '94 headstamp, lots hh42 and hb70. The boxes are in perfect condition and all the rounds look like they just came off the press. I have read on here somewhere that there were some problems with this stuff, but I can't seem to find it now, so hopefully I didn't buy any of it. Did I get a deal? Jdman

approx $2.40/box + 50cal can= GOOD Deal

or ~$95 per 500 OTD.

I believe that the problem lots are the 99 headstamped ammo.  My memory could be wrong though.

Maybe a dumb question but are you sure there not reloads in Q3131 boxes? The "real" stuff actually looks like shit! ie dents, cases not polished, etc. Are the primers and the bullets sealed? Not trying to piss on your shoes, just trying to help. h.gif

What?  I have about 800 rounds left from a case I bought in 94 and marked 94, that's matched to my 6551 and the Q3131 looks beautifulllllllll. Bright and shiney!
And BTW if I remember right I paid about $200 for the sealed case in 94.

isnt 39boxes 780rounds?  that works out to be $121.79/1,000 out the door, that is a great deal.

My older q3131 and such is a lot better looking then the stuff they sell now. No comparison at all. Never saw the dings and dents that the newer stuff has.

Sorry, never had any older stuff. I just bought about 1000 rds of the so called new Q3131 and Q3131A and they all look like crap. Not that it matters. I hear it is good stuff! The brass was not polished, you can see the annealing(Sp) and there is a few dings and dents. I wasn't trying to say you got screwed, just wondered if you are aware of this? Maybe others can post the condition and lot#/year so we can compare. Sorry if I caused any confusion
