I'm putting together my first AR15 and am trying to figure out what BCG to put in a Sabre upper.  I can get the upper with a Sabre BCG or without and was thinking about one of Denny's Super Duty BCG based on what I have heard people say.  Any recommendations or other suggestions?

Also...send Paul at Bravo Company an email ....you might find what he has to say on the subject
interesting as well.....

Paul was nice enough to email me back.  He told me Bravo Company was coming out with a bolt group next month and that Denny would be selling it as well.  He didn't really comment on Denny's Super Duty bolt or the one Sabre uses but I am very interested in the Bravo Company bolt.

Would you guys hold out for this over the other two options?

DSD BC is very nice but let me ask you this? What type of AR are you planning on using your BC in? If it's a 14.5 or 16 inch carbine , or 18 inch middy i'd go with a LMT Enhanced BC;with any standard bolt with black insert and Crane O Ring. If it's another configuration, the DSD would be an excellent choice.

Definitely a DSD. The other carrier by Bravo Company looks nice but IMHO the DSD is probably put together better.(gas key staking) I say this because i own a couple and am very happy with them.  Denny is the kind of guy that takes alot of pride in his work. He puts his SD Carrier together like he was building each and every one for his own rifle. I know you can Save 30 bucks with the other but who knows the quality of that particular manufacturer? Denny uses Stag/CMG parts which are of higher quality.

Bravo Company makes some damn good stuff, and as far as staking goes, if this isn't good enough for you, what is?

Edit: I would take a Bravo Company "anything" over a Stag "anything". Nothing against Denny. But Stag is of average quality compared to what you can get elsewhere.

I guess you learn new things every day. If indeed Bravo Company is of good quality then i'd say go for it. As far as STAG/CMG goes, there is nothing wrong with their quality. STAG/CMG BCG although isn't "the best", it is slightly above average IMO. I doubt Bravo Company goes through all the steps that Denny Does. They don't mention anything about using CS springs or using Red Locktite.
DSD

Pic of one of my DSD Carriers. This gas key ain't going to budge.

Not saying anything BAD about Stag. When I say "average" I mean it is a benchmark, when I see parts in the "bargain" realm, I compare them to Stag (most often they ARE stag). I did not mean to slight Stag because for the most part they are good quality stuff. Good enough, for example, that when you buy a Noveske rifle, you get a Stag (CMT) BCG.

And certainly the red loctite and staking and such will improve it. And Denny is a good guy. But BC does some great work too

So does Bravo Company machine that BCG or does someone else make them for BC?  Who's to say that the Bravo Company doesn't have CMT make the bolt groups for them?

I really don't know where Bravo Company get's their stuff from. I can say from personal experience that the DSD is a nice, well put together, great functioning carrier. I own 3. This should tell you something. Read Denny's description of how he assembles his carriers again and look at the staking in the pic i posted.
I talked with Denny quite a bit on the phone and can tell you that he puts alot of pride in his work. He made the comment one time that "alot of the times a vendor only gets one shot at a customer" and that "anything he puts his name on is sure to be done right"

That is most likely the case. The Black Rifle World is a small one.

This is what Paul from BC wrote about the bolt group:

"This will not be available until next month.  Denny will have this product once it is released."

It almost sounds like Denny might be doing his magical upgrades on the new BC bolt.  I'm going to email Denny.

BRAVO COMPANY Get's my vote and money.Paul, is also a guy who doesn't bs you. ANYTHING with the BC name on it will be VERY HIGH QUALITY.

I don't think you could go wrong with either vendor.

Hot damn that one from Bravo looks tits.  I would say the Bravo one gets the edge because off how it's treated (i.e. the Chrome lined interior, not to mention being shot peened)

Denny's Super is more of an eXtreme stake job with enhancements ready to go (black insert, CS spring, extractor upgrade)  Gonna have to barely give the edge to Bavo's new BCG.  Very impressive and it's cheaper.

If LMT did the Nickel treatment to their Enhanced Carrier, with matching enhanced Bolt, it'd be THAT no contest.  I just sold my BCG on the EE so I'm in the market for a new Cadillac carrier.  Young M16 is currently the front runner in my mind.

Since I'm new to all of this why at this price level wouldn't one consider a Young or Baer
Match Chrome BCG? Also how would the DPMS Titanium Nitride BCG compare these? Does TiN buy you anything (claims to be high in lubricity and harder than chrome) or is it just a gimmick? I would think one would have to be concerned with the staking of the gas key but what else?

I would go with a DSD. Just my 2 Cents.

The coating is cool, but the carrier itself is not of the highest quality.

And for 170+ bucks you're squarely in M16 carrier territory.

Titanium Nitride is a legit coating.  I used to work for SECO TOOLS and our carbide inserts had this coating.  2 reasons really.

1) Gold is good, people like to buy gold inserts.
2) The coating bought you a little more life span on the insert.  Not much since our inserts cut through solid steel. after a little turning or milling, that coat was pretty much ground off.

Not sure the quality on DPMS carriers, but TiN coated junk is 1 way to look at it.
