Unless you are mounting a scope on top of the carrying handle, it is pretty much uselss. If you want a better cheek weld, splurge on a Magpul, Crane, or VLTOR. In the end, the extra money you spend on the improved stocks will be better than the money you would throw in the garbage for the Delta cheek piece.

Thank you. Initially I will mount a left-over Bushnell Holosight on the flattop. So the cheekpiece only helps if you mount on top of the carry handle?

Yes, it raises your head far too high to use effectively with anything else.

That's what they were specifically designed for. Back before flattop uppers existed, the only way to mount an optic was on an adapter sitting on top of the carry handle, which placed the optic very high on the rifle. The "Delta" cheekpieces give you an extra couple of inches of stock height, so that you can actually get a cheek weld in that configuration. Of course, you can no longer use the irons with it on. The invention of the flattop upper allows for PROPER optic mounting, and did away with any need for annoying raised cheek pieces. -Troy |

I had a Delta cheekpiece on an earlier AR. IT WAS JUNK! It was not stable and moved around.
I scrapped it and bought a flattop upper. No need for a Delta on a collapsable for a flattop upper. |
